Ten

Story context

Boom. The trap snaps shut, fellow Daoists. After nearly twenty chapters of exploring the primeval ruins with a relaxed, almost vacation-like pace, the Seamless Gate and their ancient allies finally spring their ambush — and they've brought friends. Friends in golden armor that nobody in the Three Realms has ever seen. This chapter is the classic Xianxia "calm before the storm" pivot: our heroes are lounging, drinking, and casually discussing how long it will take Fuxi to break a "complicated but solvable" formation. Then, in a single line from Kong Xiu, the entire battlefield rearranges itself. By the time the chapter ends, Nuwa's camp is scrambling, reinforcements are being dispatched from the Ten Thousand Clans Hall, and Ji Ning has already transformed into a streak of black lightning, racing toward a fight where even the Tathagata Buddha might need saving. The stakes just got real.

Why it matters

This is the chapter where the relaxed exploration arc ends and the real war begins. If you've been reading casually, **pay close attention to the hierarchy of response**. Notice that the first wave of reinforcements (Ji Ning, Jade Cauldron) are the ones already on-site. The second wave (Houyi, Suirenshi) are dispatched from the base camp. The fact that Three Purities Daofather has to call in *both* Houyi *and* Suirenshi — the two most powerful offensive and defensive assets in Nuwa's entire camp — tells you the scale of the crisis. Also, keep an eye on those three golden-armored beings. We've never seen them before. The Seamless Gate was hiding cards they hadn't even shown their own allies. That's the kind of threat recalibration that signals a major shift in the war's trajectory.
