Story context

Emperor Quietdark gets a nasty surprise. First, he learns that the one clansman who actually saw Ji Ning fight has been crushed to death under Kuafu’s foot — so all those dead clansmen in the last chapter were a total loss, zero intel gained. Then his scouts report that Ji Ning’s perception is so razor-sharp they can’t even *guide* him into environmental traps without getting killed instantly. Quietdark decides to stop wasting minions. He personally dispatches his nine most powerful bugbeasts — each comparable to a True God or Daofather — to test Ji Ning’s true capabilities. Meanwhile, Ji Ning is chilling on a beautiful little island, sipping wine and calmly analyzing his situation. But his rest is cut short as nine ferocious auras close in from every direction.

Why it matters

If you love watching villains switch from “arrogant dismissal” to “full-scale panic mode”, this is your chapter. Quietdark has moved from “who is this nobody?” to “I’m deploying every war asset I’ve hoarded for millennia.” The psychological shift is subtle but clear: no more grandstanding, just cold, clinical force projection. And Ji Ning? He’s sipping wine on an island, completely at ease. The contrast couldn’t be more delicious. Nine bugbeasts at True God level — that’s a serious threat. But if you remember how Ji Ning handled the Eight-Armed Warfiend Formation, you know the real question isn’t “can he survive?” — it’s “how spectacularly will he obliterate them?” Get ready for a bug-stomping party.
