The Little Beast's Fury

2,753 words

The rampage of the little beast was underway, and the consequences were dire.

The White Tiger, a sacred beast of the royal clan, was already on the verge of death. Gold, the descendant of a Heavenly God, had five of his true souls forcibly expelled—even with nine lives, he could not withstand such slaughter.

The snow-white little beast had taken on an aura of absolute ruthlessness, as if it would slay gods and Buddhas alike. The four sacred beasts could not resist; none of them were its match.

Swish, swish, swish

Seven-colored divine light swept out again. Gold's sixth true soul was ripped from his body, shattering another of his undying incarnations. Gold, who had always been hot-tempered and had never accepted Keke's superiority, was now fleeing in utter panic. At last, he understood the gap between them was not small—it was immeasurable. If the little beast wanted him dead, it was no difficult task.

Keke moved with breathtaking speed, transforming into a streak of white light as it closed in on Gold again. The seven-colored divine light was about to fall once more.

At that moment, the Peacock King in the sky could no longer hold back. Having grown up alongside Gold, he could not watch his companion be slaughtered. His five-colored wings burst forth with a thousand auspicious rays and ten thousand beams of light. His five-colored body radiated blossoms of brilliance as he dove down, a hazy azure sword-light cutting through his five-colored divine radiance—straight for Keke.

Keke was furious. Whoever dared to block it would be attacked with equal ferocity. Even if a Heavenly God came, the seven-colored divine light would sweep them away.

Swish, swish

A dazzling screen of light shot upward, shattering the Peacock King's vaunted five-colored divine light, which was said to sweep away all things, and also blocked the sword-light of the hazy azure chaos feather.

"Ya-ya…" The snow-white beast cried out in anger. Then, in a flash, it vanished and reappeared on the Peacock King's back, pressing two layers of divine light directly against him.

Bang

The five-colored Peacock King could no longer hold out; he plummeted straight down from the sky. Keke showed no mercy, continuously swinging its little paws, striking the Peacock King with wave after wave of seven-colored divine light.

Even a descendant of a Heavenly God had a resilient life force, but it could not withstand such an assault from Keke. The seven-colored divine light fell in an unbroken stream.

Many-colored feathers scattered as the Peacock King was reduced to a wretched state. Yet he did not lose his life. At the critical moment, the chaos azure feather flowed with a hazy azure radiance, wrapping his body within its protection.

In ancient times, when that supreme being had wielded the five-colored divine light, nothing could withstand its sweep. It could break all defenses and roam freely between heaven and earth. That being had even refined his five feathers into the ultimate divine tools, dividing them into azure, yellow, red, black, and white. When all five were gathered, they formed a fearsome sacred artifact.

Now, even a single chaos azure feather was enough to preserve the five-colored Peacock King's life. Though the Peacock King could not unleash the chaos azure feather's full power—enough to shatter mountains and destroy gods and Buddhas—the feather itself could act to protect its master.

The little beast grew even angrier that it could not kill the Peacock King. Its power seemed inexhaustible; wave after wave of seven-colored divine light continued to fall, eventually sending a rain of peacock plumes to the ground.

The once radiant and magnificent five-colored Peacock King was now in a state of utter humiliation. Many parts of his body were bare, with feathers scattered in chaos as multicolored light flickered. The arena fell into a deathly silence.

The Golden Lion King crouched motionless in the void, his gaze cold and still. But the area around his third vertical eye blazed with divine flames, pulsing violently as he strained to open it.

Keke seemed to sense something. In an instant, it turned and looked back, immediately perceiving the Golden Lion King's state. It abandoned the difficult-to-kill Peacock King and vanished in a flash, reappearing in the void directly before the Golden Lion King.

The Golden Lion King remained utterly calm. He was about to open his third vertical eye, ignoring the little beast's attack, as he focused all his energy on gathering power. He believed his physical body was strong enough to withstand several of Keke's strikes.

Keke charged forward in an instant. A massive screen of light descended, twenty-one layers of divine light falling simultaneously upon the Golden Lion King's body.

The Golden Lion King had overestimated his physical resilience. In that moment, blood burst forth. The golden body of the Lion King was rent with twenty-one horrific wounds, all torn open by the divine light. Gold flecks mingled with his blood—it almost seemed like liquid gold.

But this only made his strength more apparent. He was far more powerful than the White Tiger, not merely by a small margin.

Once again, the Golden Lion King's attempt to open his third vertical eye was interrupted. He let out a furious, world-shaking roar of unwillingness. He had been so close—just a hair's breadth away.

Still, he was a rare creature born of heaven and earth. After his roar, ten thousand golden rays burst from his body, and the blood mingled with golden threads ceased to flow. All his wounds healed, and his brilliant golden body shone once more.

Keke huffed in anger, flicking its paw to bind the Golden Lion King in place before slamming him into the semi-conscious Peacock King on the ground.

A tremendous crash sent dust billowing, followed by the furious roars of both sacred beasts. The Peacock King and the Golden Lion King were both wounded.

The little beast hit the ground, blinking its large eyes, seeming to have an idea.

Swish, swish

Seven-colored divine light swept out, binding the Golden Lion King and the Peacock King separately. Then Keke manipulated the two glowing masses, making them smash into each other.

Bang

The thunderous impacts were unending, leaving both sacred beasts dazed and dizzy.

The snow-white beast looked at the Peacock King's chaos azure feather, then at the Golden Lion King's third vertical eye. A plan formed in its mind. Both the vertical eye and the azure feather had been difficult for it to handle individually, so now it decided to pit their strongest attributes against each other.

With a flicker of light, Keke bound them and then manipulated the Peacock King's spread tail to crash into the Golden Lion King's third head—specifically, it made the chaos azure feather stab toward the third vertical eye.

Crack, crack

A splitting sound echoed, followed by a pulse of heart-chilling energy that radiated outward.

Keke's eyes immediately lit up. It stared unblinkingly at the point of collision. But when the fearsome energy fluctuations subsided, it was disappointed. The chaos azure feather had not pierced forward, and the third vertical eye remained unharmed. Between them, an unknown force seemed to repel each other, preventing the self-destructive collision.

"Ya-ya…" The little beast cried out in frustration, waving its small paws, driving the divine light to force the two strongest elements together.

Crack, crack

Sounds of space shattering emerged, and an extremely strange energy rolled out, pressing heavily on everyone's hearts. It felt as though some colossal entity was being born, or as if several massive mountains were crushing down on their minds, filling them with an indescribable dread that made them tremble.

The Peacock King's chaos divine feather and the Golden Lion King's third vertical eye seemed to contain boundless power. If they were to explode, they could destroy anything in their path. Even the oppressive atmosphere alone was enough to terrify everyone present.

The space between the two beasts turned pitch black, isolated by an unknown force. The sound and power of their collision vanished into that darkness.

The dark void appeared and disappeared as quickly as it came.

The snow-white beast did not understand what had happened, but it saw that the chaos azure feather was undamaged, and the Lion King's third vertical eye was also unharmed, still wreathed in leaping divine flames.

Only then did everyone before the crystal screen finally let out a breath. The pressure of those moments had been unbearable.

Frustrated!

The snow-white beast's thoughts were simple—nothing more than a child's desire for revenge on behalf of the Little Defiant Dragon. But though it could defeat its opponents, it could not truly punish them. It cried out in indignation.

It gave up trying to make the two beasts collide, simply holding them in place. With layer after layer of seven-colored divine light, it swept down repeatedly. The radiance cut like blades. The Peacock King managed somewhat, protected by the chaos azure feather, his body barely intact, though his feathers were falling away.

But the Golden Lion King was different. Though he had astonishing regenerative power, he could not keep up with Keke's pace. Over a dozen layers of divine light swept down at once, like a dozen heavenly swords slashing at him. Blood poured from his body. In an instant, golden divine light flashed and healed the wounds, but he could not withstand the little beast's relentless assault.

Yet the little beast seemed uneasy at the sight of blood. It had never killed before and found such cruelty unsettling. When it saw the Golden Lion King's blood flowing freely, it hesitated, reluctant to continue.

But Keke was no ordinary creature; it knew when to show mercy and when to be decisive. Now was not the time for kindness. It steeled its heart and brought down wave after wave of divine light.

Under such an onslaught, even the Golden Lion King could not bear it. Several times he was nearly cut in half, his white bones exposed, but each time he narrowly recovered.

By now, the crowd had grown numb to the little beast's power. But the Golden Lion King's physical resilience was beyond their imagination. Before the crystal screen, all the spectators were stunned. The White Tiger had been cut clean through by the little beast, yet the Golden Lion King inched back from the brink each time he was about to be severed. If not for facing the snow-white beast, which other sacred beast could have dealt with him?

The power of his third eye was already terrifyingly strange, and coupled with such restorative abilities, he was nearly perversely heaven-defying.

But the crowd knew that if this continued, the Golden Lion King would surely die. He could withstand seven or eight of the little beast's attacks, but definitely not fifteen or sixteen. His restorative power was clearly waning.

By this time, the Peacock King's five-colored wings had been battered into a sorry state. From afar, Gold could no longer hold back. He charged forward instantly, knowing he was no match for Keke but rushing in regardless. He and the Peacock King had grown up together; their bond was deep.

Swish

Seven-colored divine light flashed, and in an instant, Gold was bound and dragged over. Keke threw him beside the Peacock King, then swept them all with divine light.

Gold had already lost six of his true souls. Of his nine undying bodies, only three remained. How could he resist any further?

The five-colored Peacock King struggled with all his might. Seizing the moment when the little beast was dealing with the Golden Lion King, he finally channeled a thread of azure energy through the chaos divine feather, enveloping Gold and protecting them both with the azure feather.

But this protection was far from complete. The Peacock King could not truly activate the chaos divine feather; it could only act on its own to defend its master. In a single instant, one of Gold's true souls was swept out again, shattered in the void, and the Peacock King himself lost half his life.

Seven-colored divine light flickered again as Keke brought down over a dozen screens of light at once. Another of Gold's true souls was ripped from his body and ground into nothingness. Now he had only one life left, no different from an ordinary sacred beast. If he died again, there would be no revival.

The Peacock King was also in a pitiful state. The chaos divine feather had diverted part of its power and could no longer protect him. This time, he nearly lost his life. If not for his Heavenly God bloodline granting him immense vitality, he would have perished long ago.

Gold struggled fiercely, trying to withdraw from the chaos azure feather's protection so that the Peacock King would not have to guard him. But Keke had already bound him; escape was impossible. And the Peacock King refused to abandon him, so both beasts seemed doomed to die.

However, the little beast's thoughts began to change. Seeing how much the two beasts cared for each other, Keke, who had been rampaging, found itself unable to deliver the killing blow. It must be said that the snow-white little beast had a kind heart. Even in such a situation, it felt compassion.

This mercy gave the two beasts a chance to live. Two figures streaked through the distance, flying with extreme speed, like twin bolts of lightning.

"Spare them!"

"We concede!"

From the start of the little beast's rampage until now, only a brief moment had passed. The White Tiger's death had shaken everyone profoundly. These two men feared that the Peacock King and Gold would be killed as well, so at the critical moment, they ignored the rules of the beast-fighting tournament and charged in, hoping to prevent further tragedy.

By now, the snow-white beast's fury had begun to subside. One reason was that it could clearly sense the Little Defiant Dragon's life force slowly recovering nearby. Another was that it had been moved by the bond between Gold and the Peacock King.

Kind by nature, Keke could not bring itself to strike again.

When the two old men who had broken the rules appeared, the little beast instinctively stopped.

Then six more elders emerged—the tournament's guardians.

Seeing that the little beast allowed it, and that no further tragedy occurred, the two old men were deeply moved. Against all odds, they had saved the lives of two sacred beasts from the jaws of death.

Keke grabbed the Golden Lion King and the White Tiger's severed body, and with a swish vanished from the scene, rushing toward the Little Defiant Dragon.

At that moment, a furious roar rang out: "Put down the White Tiger!" An old woman of imposing build tore through the air and appeared on the scene.

Boom

A bolt of lightning struck toward Keke.

The crowd erupted. It was one thing to break the rules and enter the arena, but to attack one of the competing beasts—that aroused public outrage. The Xuanhuang Arena was filled with angry shouts.

Keke was as fast as lightning. Carrying the Golden Lion King and the White Tiger's corpse, it streaked away in an instant, avoiding the attack. Then it looked up at the sky, furious.

"Wretched beast! Release the White Tiger's corpse, or face death!" The old woman's face was twisted with hatred for the snow-white beast.

"Guardians, kill that hag!"

"Slay her at once!"

The crowd's anger boiled over into shouts.

Keke was not one to be bullied; it was a creature that would never yield to force. It glared furiously at the old woman, dodged another attack, and then appeared before the Little Defiant Dragon as if crossing through space itself.

Swish

The White Tiger's body, after being swept by seven-colored divine light, instantly crumbled. A burst of life essence exploded outward, and Keke channeled it all into the Little Defiant Dragon.

"Detestable beast!" The old woman struck viciously.

"Ya-ya…" The little beast went wild. It hurled the Golden Lion King into the distance and shot upward like a white beam of light, charging straight at the old woman. Seven-colored divine light lashed out in an instant.

Bang

The old woman, who had been flying through the air, was sent tumbling by the light, thrown far back.

"Ya-ya-ya…"

The snow-white beast shrieked in fury. It pressed forward again, another layer of divine light sweeping out. The old woman's robes shattered into a large swath, and she was sent somersaulting through the air once more.
