The Silver Light Point

1,103 words

Three days passed in the blink of an eye. Xiao Chen's injuries healed swiftly; in another six or seven days, he would be fully recovered.

At dusk, flames danced among the trees. The wild rabbit impaled on a bamboo skewer had been roasted to a golden, glistening perfection. Droplets of fat sizzled and popped as they struck the fire. Sea salt had long since been worked evenly into the meat, and a mouthwatering fragrance coiled through the grove.

With a bamboo knife, Xiao Chen carved the golden rabbit on a shell platter. He washed and sliced various wild fruits, arranging several plates, and poured himself a bamboo cup of coconut milk. Thus began his supper. The tender, succulent rabbit meat filled his mouth with fragrance at every bite, and the sweet, crisp fruits sharpened his appetite.

The sunset glow faded; night descended. But the seaside did not grow quiet; on the contrary, the clamor swelled.

Since dusk, the Eight-Armed Malignant Dragon had been rumbling low along the shore for reasons unknown. Now it erupted in ear-splitting, sky-shaking roars that set the azure sea roiling and the mountain forest trembling—a spectacle of sheer terror.

Even when the sky filled with brilliant stars, the ancient beast still bellowed without cease, far different from its usual behavior. Greatly intrigued, Xiao Chen was drawn by the heavy dragon roars from the beach and went, under the moonlight, to the coconut grove by the sea.

The fifty-meter-long Eight-Armed Malignant Dragon gleamed with silver light all over, like a silver mountain ridge. With its razor-sharp horn, the row of bone spikes stabbing up from its spine, and its eight enormous claws gleaming coldly, it appeared utterly ferocious and dread-inducing.

Now the thunderous roars had gradually subsided. The primordial beast seemed to have thrashed violently across this stretch of sand; the beach was pitted with craters and gouged by huge, terrifying trenches.

Xiao Chen's gaze was riveted.

Beside the malignant dragon on the beach, a sacred, multicolored radiance flickered. Looking closely, he realized they were two dragon eggs! Each was as large as a millstone, their shells as translucent as fine jade, suffused with brilliant, glowing light.

The ancient dragon had laid eggs!

Xiao Chen was deeply astonished. He finally understood why the beast had been acting so strangely.

The Eight-Armed Malignant Dragon dug a large pit in the sand and carefully buried the two eggs within.

As the night wore on, the seaside finally fell quiet.

The sky was thick with stars, magnificent and beautiful.

Returning to his dwelling by the small lake, Xiao Chen meditated for two hours. Then he entered the bamboo hut, which brimmed with the fresh fragrance of greenery, and slowly drifted to sleep on the bamboo bed.

He spent most of each day training. He knew that whether in the mortal world or here in this unknown World of Immortality, only true strength would let him live.

Morning came. Tides rose and fell; waves crashed rhythmically.

The primordial beast, the Eight-Armed Malignant Dragon, had been gone for some time. Xiao Chen dug open the large pit on the beach, and a brilliant, shimmering light spilled forth. The two millstone-sized dragon eggs emerged.

Their shells were crystalline and translucent, as if carved from the finest mutton-fat jade, gleaming with a mystical silver radiance.

Dragon eggs—until now, they had existed only in legend!

And here they were, real before Xiao Chen.

He struck one egg with his palm. Silver light flickered, but the shell remained undamaged. Surprised, Xiao Chen struck harder. With a crisp crack, a large fissure appeared in the jade-like shell.

Xiao Chen felt no guilt. Legend held that the dragon that could challenge sea gods was the cruelest overlord of the ocean, rending countless living creatures every day.

The translucent egg finally split open. Inside, silver light blazed dazzlingly. The albumen spilled across the sand and quickly seeped into the ground, revealing the core—a silvery “yolk” that flowed with light, the source of the brilliant radiance.

A faint, elusive dragon roar reached Xiao Chen's ears. Startled, he saw a beam of silver light rise from the egg—a miniature dragon, claws bared, vibrating with an intensely powerful life force.

This was the essence of the dragon's vitality!

Without the slightest hesitation, he swallowed that mass of silver light. In that instant, Xiao Chen felt as though his soul were about to ignite. A surging, tempestuous tide of life energy rampaged through his body!

The egg laid by a primordial beast contained unimaginably potent life essence. After all, it was meant to hatch a ferocious dragon! Its innate life force was boundless.

Xiao Chen's entire body became wreathed in silver radiance, like blazing flames—the essence of the dragon egg, the endless life vitality. His flesh turned almost translucent, and dimly, one could see a silver dragon sinking into his lower abdomen.

As if summoned, the residual dragon essence from the broken egg converged toward Xiao Chen's body, seeking to merge with the dragon shadow within him.

Xiao Chen felt as though his body were about to shatter, his soul and flesh on the verge of collapse!

Just then, the ancient stele inscribed with “Ever-Pacify the Yellow River” manifested in his heart, and the Heaven-Bestowed Qi-Refining Diagram began to operate on its own. Enduring immense agony, Xiao Chen watched the strange phenomenon unfolding within him—the dragon shadow was slowly being refined!

After most of the day had passed, the blazing light around his body gradually subsided. The silver dragon within him had vanished, transformed into a single silver light point no larger than a grain of rice, settled deep in the “Shangqiu Acupoint” of his left foot.

The Shangqiu Acupoint lies in the depression just below the front of the ankle. The silver point rested there, causing the acupoint to seem almost divinely transformed—compared to other points, it blazed like a solitary lamp in the dead of night!

Two more hours passed. Xiao Chen opened his eyes. Though he had consumed a legendary dragon egg, his cultivation had not advanced by even a hair. He fell into thought. Such vast primal dragon essence had condensed into just one silver light point, fixed in his left foot's Shangqiu acupoint. This was one of the 365 major acupoints in the human body. If every major acupoint could be settled with such a luminous pearl, what transformation would that bring?

The sun had already sunk in the west. From the deep sea came the roar of dragons. The calm ocean was split into a waterway, white waves surging to either side—clearly, the primordial beast was cleaving its way back.
