A Name That Shakes the Land – The Great Formation Battle (VI)

2,213 words

The snow condor’s body shattered into countless pieces along with the ice shards.

The green-clad woman, who had just emerged from the breeze in pursuit, froze for a moment at the sight. Then she let out a few cold laughs. Her jade foot pressed down on the white lotus beneath her, and instantly a fierce gale rose from the lotus, blowing the surrounding dense fog clean away.

Han Li narrowed his eyes, staring at her displeased, hostile face, and asked calmly:

“Does Fellow Daoist not regret the destruction of a treasure? Or does Fellow Daoist believe that my actions were utterly incapable of destroying it?” As he spoke, Han Li casually cast a few more glances at the strange blue ice shards that were scattered in the air and drifting unnaturally without falling.

“What do you think?” the green-clad woman replied flatly. Then she pointed beside Han Li.

Instantly, the ice fragments at Han Li’s side all flashed with light, and countless white specks of light emerged from among the shards.

Han Li was startled, but immediately he raised a hand and shot out a streak of green haze, sweeping it toward those specks of light.

A series of puffing sounds rang out. As soon as the white specks of light left the blue ice, they transformed into milky-white spiritual light that surged toward the woman in a swarm.

The green haze swept over them and caught nothing.

Seeing his attack fail, Han Li’s expression darkened, but then he stopped, not bothering to continue a fruitless effort. He merely watched the opposite side coldly.

Those motes of spiritual light converged in front of the woman, swiftly gathering into a white ball of light the size of a human head.

The green-clad woman’s expression remained indifferent. She cast a spell formula onto the ball.

A blinding white light flashed, and a condor’s cry immediately rang out from within the ball of light. Then the ball stretched and deformed, and the snow-white giant condor was reborn before Han Li’s eyes.

Seeing this, Han Li frowned, but he immediately noticed that the condor’s aura was not as vigorous as it had been at the start. Instead, it seemed somewhat listless and dispirited.

A thoughtful expression appeared on Han Li’s face.

It seemed that his act of killing the artifact spirit had not been without effect. The condor was not an immortal being; he believed that as long as he killed the giant condor a few more times, it would be enough to make it vanish completely.

Seeing the white condor looking somewhat weak, the young woman said nothing more and simply beckoned.

Immediately, the snow condor spread its wings and shot into the sky. It tumbled once in the air, then transformed back into the white sash and drifted gently downward.

The sash landed on the woman’s body and vanished without a trace.

“You suddenly stopped fleeing and tried to anger me by destroying my treasure’s artifact spirit. It seems you must have some kind of backup plan here,” the woman said coldly, one hand holding the lamp, the other brushing the hair on her shoulder.

At these words, Han Li was slightly surprised, but after a moment of silence, he replied with flickering eyes:

“Since Fellow Daoist knows this and still chose to pursue me, it seems you are very confident in the treasure in your hand. Could you enlighten me on the origin of this lamp? I have heard of lamp-type ancient treasures for the first time.”

As he spoke, Han Li stared unblinkingly at the woman’s jade-like face.

“I cannot. It is better that you go on your way as a confused ghost!” the green-clad woman said coldly, her face sinking without any courtesy.

Then she opened her delicate mouth and spat out a ball of Nascent Flame, which landed on the bronze lamp in her single hand.

A faint, bluish lamplight slowly lit up on the lamp.

Han Li sighed, then calmly turned over both hands.

A green formation flag and a red-and-blue formation disk, both long prepared, appeared in his hands simultaneously.

Glancing meaningfully at the woman across from him, Han Li first offered the small flag into the air. He swiftly formed a hand seal and shot it into the flag, followed by a low, murmured incantation.

After a flash of light, the flag instantly exploded. A ball of green mist appeared out of thin air, spreading dozens of yards across the sky.

With a wind sweeping away the clouds, the ball of mist suddenly transformed into a green mist python over thirty feet long, which lunged fiercely at the woman.

At the same time, the formation disk in Han Li’s other hand also emitted red and blue light. He tossed it at his feet, where it immediately turned into a stream of white mist and burrowed into the ground, disappearing from sight.

Instantly, the surrounding sea of mist churned and surged, and countless red and blue threads of light shot out from within, densely enveloping the green-clad woman.

Han Li himself shook his sleeves, and a small silver bell whistled as it swelled in the wind, turning into a giant bell. With a loud humming sound, it began to emit silver sound waves as Han Li urged it toward the green-clad woman’s head.

Since he could not engage her in close quarters, he would use the bell’s sound for intangible attacks. This might possibly prove effective.

Of course, against the woman’s unfathomable white lotus and the unknown bronze lamp ancient treasure, these were not Han Li’s true killing moves.

What was hidden beneath the ground was Silvermoon, who had long since used the Earth Escape Technique to stealthily position herself there.

By now, Silvermoon had already unfurled the Purple Cheng Net, arranging it around the woman’s feet.

She was merely waiting for the woman to slip up, and then she would deliver a fatal blow.

Although the green-clad woman did not know that someone was lying in ambush beneath her feet, she seemed utterly indifferent to all the restrictions and attacks Han Li had already unleashed. She merely lowered her head to look at the faintly glowing green lamp in her hand, a strange, cold smile curling at the corners of her mouth.

She unhurriedly raised her delicate hand, using two jade-like fingers to deftly pluck a single lamp spark the size of a pea from the green lamp. She flicked it up and caught it between her fingers.

By this time, the sky mist python, the surrounding red and blue threads, and the waves of silver sound struck almost simultaneously around her.

Yet the woman showed no sign of worry. She simply tapped the white lotus beneath her foot with one jade foot. Instantly, the white lotus flashed with white light, spinning and dancing rapidly. The dense white lotus petals gradually closed inward, wrapping around the woman, shielding her completely from the elements without any gaps.

The green mist python transformed from the restriction was the first to pounce before the light screen. Without any hesitation, it opened its mouth and spewed forth a rolling column of green mist, which struck the white light barrier.

The result was that a single sweep of the lotus petals within the light barrier sent the mist column scattering into nothing.

The red and blue light threads arrived next but were likewise repelled outside. Only the sound waves seemed not to be blocked by the white lotus petals, directly sinking into them. As for their effect, it was impossible to judge.

Seeing this, Han Li made a hand seal without hesitation.

The red and blue light threads immediately stopped their assault and instead twisted together to form large nets that enveloped the white lotus, layering it layer upon layer in an instant. The mist python also tumbled in the air, transforming into a vast expanse of green mist that submerged the white lotus, the light threads, and everything else.

As for the silver bell, it flew to hover above the white lotus. With Han Li exerting his full power to urge it on, the silver waves suddenly grew by another third, wave after wave penetrating the restrictions and directly attacking the green-clad woman within.

For a moment, it seemed as if the green-clad woman inside the white lotus had been bound.

But Han Li showed no joy on his face. Instead, his brows knitted tightly.

As if confirming that Han Li’s worry was not baseless, the white lotus, which had been tightly closed and only about three feet wide, suddenly bloomed again without any warning.

The lotus petals, each like a sharp blade, merely rotated a few times, and they sliced the surrounding green mist and light threads into shreds.

Seeing this, Han Li’s face clouded over.

The green-clad woman stood gracefully in the center of the white lotus, her expression neither happy nor sad. She held the bronze lamp in one hand, and in the other, she cupped the seemingly ordinary green lamp flame. She shot a cold glance at Han Li, then her gaze suddenly fell upon the silver giant bell hovering above her head, humming incessantly.

Its released silver waves were just covering the woman beneath them.

A cold light flashed in her beautiful eyes. She suddenly raised her hand and brought the green lamp flame before her small mouth. She gently blew on it.

A puffing sound. The lamp flame trembled slightly, then vanished from her hand in a flash.

The next instant, the silver giant bell in the air was inexplicably enveloped by a green light orb that had appeared out of nowhere.

Seeing this, the woman began to mutter an incantation, and an unknown green demonic flame began to burn on the surface of the silver bell.

The silver bell let out a mournful cry, erupting with a blinding silver light in an attempt to hold on for a moment. But in an instant, it melted and deformed in the green flame, turning into molten silver.

The green light orb then shattered on its own, disappearing without a trace.

Witnessing the destruction of this ancient treasure, Han Li’s face paled slightly.

At this moment, the green-clad woman extended her hand and deftly plucked another green lamp spark from the bronze lamp. Then she cast an ill-intentioned glance at Han Li.

Han Li inwardly cried out in alarm, and without a second thought, the Wind Lightning Wings spread behind his back. With a crack of thunder, he vanished from his spot in the blink of an eye.

The woman seemed utterly unconcerned by this. She still brought the green lamp flame to her mouth, parting her cherry lips to exhale spiritual energy.

Just then, a flash of purple light appeared at her feet. A massive purple net, over thirty feet wide, suddenly emerged from the ground, rushing upward.

Just as the woman was startled, accompanied by a woman’s light laughter, the purple net, swift as thunder, trapped her within it in an instant.

“Since Fellow Daoist is so fond of playing with fire, why not try the taste of the Jade Yang True Fire from my ‘Purple Cheng Net’?” A charming, beautiful young woman emerged from the ground nearby amidst a flash of yellow light, speaking with a cheerful grin. But her hand did not hesitate; she raised it and cast a spell formula onto the purple net.

A flicker of light and flame danced on the purple net. A layer of strange blue-white flame covered the entire net. Several blue-white fire snakes also appeared within the net, lunging fiercely at the woman within the white lotus.

The blue-white flame submerged the white lotus within the net.

At this moment, Han Li also materialized about a hundred feet away from the green-clad woman. Seeing this sight, great joy appeared on his face.

He immediately shook both sleeves, and all seventy-two Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords shot up into the sky. Several spell formulas followed closely behind.

After a dragon-like roar emerged from the flying swords in the high sky, they converged into one, turning into a giant sword over twenty feet long amidst a flash of green light.

With a thought from Han Li, a great rumble of thunder arose. Thick, golden arcs of electricity sprang from the surface of this giant sword, wrapping around it and turning it into a sword of thunder.

But Han Li was not finished. He suddenly took a deep breath, then spat out a wisp of the Dry Azure Ice Flame from his mouth, sending it shooting straight onto the giant sword.

Instantly, aside from the astonishing electric arcs on its surface, the giant sword gained an additional layer of faint, barely discernible blue flame.

A cold light flashed in Han Li’s eyes. He pointed at the giant sword.

With a single tremor, the giant sword turned into a green rainbow, shooting straight toward the white lotus within the purple net.

Just at this moment, the green-clad woman trapped within the Purple Cheng Net finally came to her senses.

Extremely furious, she suddenly raised the green lamp flame in her hand and offered it above her head.
