The moment they catch their breath, the mansion’s security system—a set of ancient Qiongqi golems—sniffs them out. One nasty formation later, the team is plunged into a sealed void, under a barrage of uncannily powerful icy arrows, completely cut off from their Fiendgod bodyguard. The message is clear: in a dead Immortal’s home, the traps are very much alive.
Why it matters
Brace yourself for a Xianxia classic: the “Surrounded and Picked Off One by One” trope. The team is isolated, their heavy hitter is locked out, and a formation is actively trying to murder them. This is where the author separates the main characters from the redshirts. Keep an eye on how Ji Ning reacts—does he panic? No. He analyzes, he warns, but most of all, he *waits*. This passivity is intentional. It sets up a contrasting explosion of violence when he eventually finds his opening. Also, pay attention to the Qiongqi.
