Story context

This chapter pivots from frontline action to the cold war rooms of the Seamless Gate and its alien allies. Ji Ning’s survival after Houyi’s intervention forces a strategic recalibration: the Great Demon God Cixiu agrees to hunt him for a price, Emperor Quietdark is ordered to confirm the Fifth Stage of Sword Force, and a trap involving the dreaded Dreamshadow Forest is laid. Meanwhile, Ji Ning wanders the distorted spacetime of the Quietdark World, swiftly annihilating a formation of nearly two hundred Empyrean Gods before the enemy can even transmit a battle scene. The chapter ends with a delightfully meta author’s note about the official Desolate Era game, reminding readers that casual fun is the point.

Why it matters

Get ready, fellow Daoists — this chapter is a masterclass in Xianxia political economy. The Seamless Gate doesn’t just rage; they recalculate risk, assign price tags, and set traps. The brutal efficiency of Ji Ning’s one-sided slaughter sets a terrifying new baseline for his power, and the fact that no battle scene could be transmitted is a chilling testament to his speed. Also, don’t skip the author’s note — Tomato’s casual chat about the game’s pay-to-win mechanics is a rare peek behind the curtain of a web novel giant. Enjoy the blade, but remember: it’s all just for fun.
