In Eastern cultivation fiction, the progression of sword techniques is often described in three realms: Basic (foundational moves), Subtlety (入微, where movements become precise and efficient), and Unity of Man and Heaven (天人合一, harmonizing with natural forces). Here, Ji Ning achieves the second step, also called Unity of Man and Sword (人剑合一), but this is still just the gateway—true mastery lies in fusing with the Dao, a path that can take millennia.
