Chen Hongyu

A self-admitted patient at the Sixth People's Hospital who claims to have knowledge of an organization with evidence-erasing abilities.

Definition

A self-admitted patient at the Sixth People's Hospital who claims to have knowledge of an organization with evidence-erasing abilities.

Story context

The hospital becomes a stage for psychological warfare. Our trio—Li Huowang, Yang Na, and the hustler Qian Fu—visit a self-admitted patient named Chen Hongyu who claims to know about Li Huowang's supernatural stalkers. She offers help in exchange for five thousand yuan and an escort out. The payout feels suspicious, but the alternative (doing nothing) feels worse. Before they can fully process the deal, a brutal reminder of the world's instability ambushes Li Huowang in the form of his former psychiatrist, Wang Wei—who tries to choke him into "remembering the truth." Chen Hongyu knocks the doctor out cold, proving both her loyalty and the terrifying reach of Li Huowang's enemies. This chapter is a slow-burn tension piece masking an explosive, visceral confrontation.

Why it matters

Get ready for some next-level paranoia, fellow Daoists. This chapter is the *perfect* example of how this novel weaponizes ordinary, boring spaces against you. A psychiatric hospital should be safe from the Dao-Twisted world, right? Wrong. Wang Wei's ambush—strangling Li Huowang while screaming "Wake up!"—is one of the most uncomfortable attacks in the entire story. He's not wrong to doubt Li Huowang's sanity, but he's *wrong* about which reality is real. Pay attention to the "patients'" dialogue; it's not just background noise. Their ramblings about higher worlds and holographic projections are eerily close to the truth of the novel's cosmology. The big question: Is Chen Hongyu on the level? Her help comes with strings attached, and in this book, every string leads to a noose.
