Yin Fiend Slash

Story context

Han Li doesn’t wait for a formal duel to start; he ends one before it can even begin. By exploiting the element of surprise and a trump card his enemies don’t understand—the Dry Azure Ice Flame—he freezes a Nascent Soul elder solid in a single breath. The message is clear: raw cultivation rank means nothing if you don’t know what you’re up against. But this cold victory is just the warm-up act. Han Li immediately assesses the broader battlefield: a wounded Nanlong Hou, four hostile elders, and a death trap of shifting loyalties. Instead of taking the bait of an alliance, he opts for tactical retreat with two crucial cards already played. By chapter’s end, we see the full shape of his quiet victory—eliminate one threat, cripple another, rattle the rest, and ghost out with a prize already secured hours ago. Welcome to Nascent Soul chess.

Why it matters

If you came for straightforward “ally with the good guys and beat the bad guys,” you are in the wrong place. This chapter is a masterclass in **strategic isolation**. Han Li doesn’t join Nanlong Hou because the math doesn’t add up—wounded ally + four hostile elders = likely death for both. Instead, he engineers a fight among his enemies and slips away with his prize already secured. Watch how every move is a compound layer of deception: the flashy ice kill makes everyone fear him, the black mountain forces a distraction, and the prior infiltration with Silvermoon is the hidden foundation. This is the Mortal Stream at its most satisfying: a win that looks like a retreat to anyone not paying attention.
