The Eight-Armed Malignant Dragon

1,078 words

Ten years of bitter cultivation on the mysterious stone carving had transformed Xiao Chen beyond measure. His physique had changed continuously, taking on a faint sense of being reborn. Yet what finally instilled confidence in this Qi-Refining Diagram was a fierce battle in the Kunlun Mountains.

He had gone to witness the miracle of Lan Nuo breaking the void, only to be bullied by the Royal Celestial Maiden's guards along the way. That battle became the bloodiest fight of his life. He split thirteen royal iron guards as he fought his way clear, cutting down Zhao Lin'er's personal maidservant in the process.

It was clear the mysterious stone carving was no ordinary cultivation method. Ten years of devoted practice had brought his skill to a solid foundation.

But as he trained day after day, his understanding of the Heaven-Bestowed Qi-Refining Diagram deepened—and so did his suspicion that it was incomplete. He felt there ought to be a continuation.

Legend said the stele that eternally settled the Yellow River had fallen from the Nine Heavens. Perhaps other such divine steles existed, but obtaining their inscriptions seemed all but impossible.

The essence of sunlight, the radiance of the moon, the vitality of plants... the natural world overflowed with boundless primeval energy in countless forms. Xiao Chen circulated his refining technique among the coconut groves, drawing in the essence of heaven and earth to nourish his wounded body. A hazy, multicolored glow surrounded him.

Two hours later, he emerged from his meditative state. His injuries were not as severe as he had feared—he estimated full recovery within ten days.

The red sun was setting, its remaining light scattering across the sea in a sheet of crimson. Sea and sky merged into one; water, mist, and afterglow painted everything in bloody hues.

Boom... Boom... Boom...

At that moment, the beach began to tremble. A dull, pounding rhythm reached Xiao Chen's ears. He turned to look, and his face went rigid with shock.

A colossal silver figure climbed out of the sea and onto the shore. Its body was a full fifty meters long, looking at first glance like a mountain-sized silver crocodile—but closer inspection revealed clear differences.

Along its spine, like a silver mountain ridge, grew over a hundred gleaming bone spikes, each two meters long, thrusting upward like rows of sharp spears, guarding its rear.

It was utterly enormous. Its entire body was covered in cold, glinting silver scales, each scale over a meter long and half a meter wide. From a distance, this silver behemoth, its whole body shimmering with icy light, appeared exceptionally savage.

The silver beast had eight thick, powerful claw-limbs. At the ends of those claws, the sharp, massive talons gleamed with a dark, ominous light. Moreover, on its head grew a single sharp horn, seven or eight meters long, shining with cold silver brilliance. This was without question a terrifying, colossal monster.

Its ghastly green eyes, as large as millstones, radiated a torch-like eerie glow. It swept its gaze across the beach, then set foot onto the sand.

Turning toward the setting sun, it opened its bloody maw, revealing rows of sword-like teeth over a meter long, and let out a terrifying roar that shook the nearby seawater into violent waves. Sea birds in the sky fled in panic; some closer ones plummeted straight into the ocean.

Such power truly shook heaven and earth!

Xiao Chen had covered his ears in time, but even so, his eardrums buzzed painfully. The enormous roar was like thunder crashing beside him.

After bellowing at the setting sun, the fifty-meter-long giant beast crouched on the sand and closed its massive eyes, as if to rest here.

Xiao Chen was deeply shaken. The World of Immortality was indeed extraordinary!

Gazing at the mountain-like silver behemoth, he recalled the ancient ferocious beast of coastal legend—the Eight-Armed Malignant Dragon!

This hideous, terrifying giant matched the legends of the Eight-Armed Malignant Dragon exactly!

Legend said that ancient beast could overturn rivers and seas, summon wind and rain. Any ship that encountered it faced only one fate: destruction. It was the most savage beast of the sea, one from which even the Sea God would flee!

"An ancient savage beast that can fight gods... truly exists in this world!" Remembering those old tales, Xiao Chen's face was filled with awe. He had not expected to personally witness such a legendary monster in the World of Immortality.

Even from a distance, he could feel the fierce, murderous aura emanating from the beast. This colossal ancient monster had torn apart countless creatures of the sea!

Xiao Chen was very rational. He rose to his feet and moved slowly, stepping deeper into the coconut grove until he was certain the ancient beast could not detect him. Only then did he stop to watch from afar.

The Eight-Armed Malignant Dragon lay still as a silver mountain ridge, motionless as if turned to stone. Xiao Chen guessed this beach might be its resting place; it would likely sleep here through the night.

Ever since the ancient beast had crawled ashore and roared at the sunset, the nearby primeval forest had fallen silent, broken only by the roars of wild beasts deeper within the island.

The sea breeze blew gently, and the twilight was fading. Xiao Chen startled countless birds as he moved through the coastal forest. The ground was littered with eggs—his dinner was secure.

The moonlight was like water, stars twinkling faintly, waves lapping softly against the shore. The slightly salty sea breeze drifted lightly through the night. Xiao Chen slowly drifted into sleep among the coconut trees.

Dawn broke. The red sun rose, spreading a broad swath of golden light across the sea's horizon.

A heart-shaking, eardrum-bursting roar split the sky!

The legendary ancient ferocious beast, the Eight-Armed Malignant Dragon, had opened its bloody maw and was roaring at the sun just climbing above the sea. The calm blue morning ocean was churned into surging waves by the sound. Sea birds soaring in the sky vanished in terror.

The massive silver dragon moved all eight claw-limbs, and the beach rumbled as it slowly stepped into the sea. The calm waters instantly boiled as if struck by a tsunami, sending up towering waves. The silver figure thrashed in the deep.

Only as it gradually receded into the distance did the sea slowly calm.

The tides rose and fell, washing away the traces the dragon had left on the shore.
