An Arrow that Dwarfs the Sun

1,755 words

“Go.”

Before the Nuwa camp and the Seamless Gate could begin their clash anew, the Great Demon God Cixiu and the Daofather of Blades, who had been standing at the edges, exchanged a single glance. In an instant, they retreated into their dark-gold fortress, quickly flying far, far away.

Inside the fortress, Cixiu, the Daofather of Blades, and their servants rested at their leisure.

“I never expected this primitive world to produce a being who is peak Elder God level,” the Great Demon God Cixiu said with a sigh of admiration. “Peak existences like that… they are considered true experts even in the endless primordial chaos.”

An ordinary Elder God was the weakest form of Elder God.

A top-tier Elder God was a veteran, one whose divine abilities were quite formidable, whose insights were relatively profound, and who had generally reached that level of attainment.

A peak Elder God possessed strength close to that of a World God, a true expert who could thrive even in the endless chaos.

Legend also spoke of prodigies…

There were freakish talents at the Elder God or Ancestral Immortal level who could match World Gods. Some legends even told of ‘an Elder God defeating a World God.’ But those were just legends… such anomalies were far rarer than World Gods or Chaos Immortals. One would be hard-pressed to find even a single one among millions of Elder Gods and Ancestral Immortals.

Clearly, the Three Realms possessed no such anomalies. To produce such a monster required a confluence of incredible fortune, divine abilities, techniques, treasures, and more…

With the sudden retreat of Cixiu and the Daofather of Blades, both camps were now poised at the precipice, with no choice but to strike.

“Kill.”

“Ji Ning, Jueming, go!”

Suiren, Jueming Buddha, and Ji Ning simultaneously charged at the Lord of All Demons.

…

“It’s better if I play with the two of you instead,” the Lord of All Demons said. His body split into two divine forms, intercepting the black-robed Ji Ning and the Tathagata Buddha.

Earlier, with no one to stop him, the black-robed Ji Ning had already begun a massacre.

The Tathagata Buddha had also reformed the Pangu Genesis Formation, and similarly, had been unopposed.

“Bang.”

“Whoosh.”

The two copies of the Lord of All Demons fought against the black-robed Ji Ning and the Tathagata Buddha. The Lord of All Demons was far too fast; his speed surpassed even Ji Ning’s Eternal Sword Formation, keeping both Ji Ning and the Tathagata completely occupied.

…

“Huanmu, I have a mountain of Immortal pills. Let’s see how long your divine power can last,” Daoist Three Purities said, commanding his formation as he fought against Master Stonerule.

Daoist Three Purities was consuming his Immortal power.

Master Stonerule, however, was consuming his divine power. Divine power could not be replenished. Strictly speaking, some rare curiosities could replenish it. For instance, ‘Chaos Nectar’ could restore divine power, but its quantity was far too scarce. A single bottle of Chaos Nectar could only restore the divine body of a dozen or so Empyrean Gods, not even enough for a single True God’s body.

To restore an Elder God’s body would require over a hundred bottles of Chaos Nectar. Clearly, no one in the Three Realms could produce that many bottles. Even in the endless primordial chaos, no one was extravagant enough to use Chaos Nectar just to replenish divine power.

“Don’t worry, my divine power can still last a long time. Besides, the Demonheart’s power is much greater than before. Your side will collapse soon,” Master Stonerule said coldly.

Two old friends were now locked in mortal combat.

They knew the Lord of All Demons had instigated everything, but they were now trapped on a tiger’s back, unable to dismount. The hatred between the Seamless Gate and Nuwa’s camp had long been deeply sown.

…

“Daoist Source!” Gonggong roared in fury, but the endless, sky-covering whisk blocked him at every turn.

Old Man Yuan’s defense was simply too formidable.

Gonggong was completely tied down.

…

“Boom, boom, boom.” Divine Farmer, commanding the Pangu Genesis Formation, fought against Daofather Ink Bamboo.

…

The Blood Torrent Demon Ancestor’s true body and his clone flew into their own army, helping the Seamless Gate forces engage the Nuwa camp in battle.

…

Looking at the battlefield, one supreme leader on the Nuwa side was free—Houyi!

Originally, the alien ‘Great Demon God Cixiu’ had been fighting Houyi, but the two aliens had withdrawn. Houyi now had two choices: help his own army fight the Seamless Gate forces, or intervene in the top-tier battle. Houyi understood that the key to winning or losing this war still lay in the fight with the Lord of All Demons.

As for the clash between the two armies, even with the Blood Torrent Demon Ancestor’s help for the Seamless Gate, the Nuwa side had Fuxi, who had completely taken control of the battle situation with the Water-Fire Annihilation Formation. The Seamless Gate was still on the losing end.

“Demonheart.” Houyi’s target locked onto the Lord of All Demons.

“Demonheart, accept your death!” Ji Ning, with three heads and six arms, wielding six divine swords, engaged in close-quarters combat, his sword technique astonishing.

“Amitabha,” the Jueming Buddha chanted from a distance, sending golden palm strikes crashing towards the Lord of All Demons.

Suiren swung his wooden staff, transforming it into a raging sea of flame that pounded forward.

“Hahaha… you think you can stop me? Lacking Self-Confidence!” the Lord of All Demons, who had just escaped his bindings and regained his freedom, had a pent-up fury. As Ji Ning, Jueming, and Suiren attacked, he shook his body, also manifesting three heads and six arms. His six arms transformed into six surging rivers.

Boom! The rivers surged. Even as Ji Ning desperately tried to block, he was sent flying backward by the crushing force.

Boom! The Jueming Buddha was also sent flying backward.

Boom! Suiren stumbled backward.

All three of them had formidable protective divine abilities and were not in danger of dying. However, the Lord of All Demons had manifested six arms, all transformed into six rivers! Just three of these rivers were enough to suppress them. This meant it would take six top-tier Elder Gods of Ji Ning’s caliber, with sufficiently powerful divine bodies, to even barely contain the ‘peak Elder God’ level Lord of All Demons. Nuwa’s camp simply didn’t have that kind of power.

Three rivers suppressed Ji Ning and the others, while the remaining three surged forward to encircle Suiren.

“Suiren. Die.” The Lord of All Demons’ voice was ice-cold.

Ji Ning and Jueming both had divine bodies comparable to supreme-grade Innate spirit-treasures, making them very hard to kill.

Suiren’s body could transform into flames, and while also difficult to kill, he was easier to destroy than Ji Ning or Jueming.

Just then—

“Hmm?” The Lord of All Demons suddenly felt a faint, ominous sensation. He quickly turned his head to look.

In the distance, standing in the void, was Houyi.

Houyi was staring coldly at him, holding an ancient divine bow in one hand and a black arrow in the other.

“Houyi?” The Lord of All Demons followed this with a cold laugh that shook the void. “Houyi, hahaha… what I fear least is archery. Come, come!”

Houyi, however, remained silent and calm. With one hand holding the bow, he nocked the arrow and drew the bowstring.

Huumm…

The bow was drawn to a full circle.

The arrow’s tip pointed at the Lord of All Demons.

An eerie silence fell over the entire battlefield. Every Immortal and demon present felt an invisible pressure, a suppression bearing down on their very hearts.

“This is…” The Great Demon God Cixiu and the Daofather of Blades, watching from afar, both changed expressions.

“What terrifying archery,” the Great Demon God Cixiu muttered. “This Houyi is incredibly strong. This primitive chaosworld is too powerful.”

“Truly formidable,” the Daofather of Blades said, also feeling the pressure.

Even Old Man Yuan, locked in battle with Gonggong, turned his head to look at Houyi. He, too, had reached the Fifth Level of Heartforce. He could tell that Houyi was also only at the Fifth Level of Heartforce. But when Houyi drew his bowstring, the invisible pressure suppressed even his own heart. This was an utterly terrifying archery skill formed from the perfect unity of Heartforce, divine power, and soul.

“It’s far more terrifying than the arrow that shot down the Golden Crow Demon Emperor back then,” Fuxi said, sighing inwardly as he watched.

“This arrow…” Ji Ning also felt a trembling in his heart. Though the arrow wasn’t aimed at him, it was like a hare seeing a tiger. Even a sleeping tiger made the hare’s heart tremble.

“This arrow…” Even the Lord of All Demons changed expression. In the Primordial Dawn War, he hadn’t taken Houyi seriously. Houyi’s arrows couldn’t catch him back then. But now, facing this arrow, even the Lord of All Demons couldn’t evade it. He would first have to block this arrow before he could flee.

Everyone present felt the terrifying threat.

Even the Lord of All Demons, the strongest, felt a tremor of fear. Yet he had absolute confidence in himself.

“Die.” The Lord of All Demons still kept four of his arms attacking Suiren, four surging rivers besieging him.

“Whoosh.”

A soft sound of a bowstring being released.

A streak of light instantly shot across the void. Initially silent, it began to frantically absorb all the power around it as it flew—the world’s elemental energy and the power of Chaos itself—causing the arrow’s momentum to swell explosively. In the blink of an eye, the streak of light grew to ten thousand zhang, then a million zhang, then a million li long…

It was like a colossal rainbow spanning the void.

All the other mighty figures on the battlefield felt the pressure.

“Hahaha…” The Lord of All Demons laughed maniacally, continuing his assault on Suiren. Under the siege of the four surging rivers, the flames of Suiren’s form were being continuously consumed. When it was fully consumed, Suiren would die.

“Whoosh.”

The arrow within the colossal rainbow finally reached the Lord of All Demons. The arrow’s speed left him no choice but to face it. He had no intention of fleeing anyway. His gaze finally fell upon the arrow hidden deep within the rainbow. To him, the awe-inspiring rainbow was an illusion; the only real threat was that seemingly insignificant arrow.
