The Desolate Star Immortal

2,138 words

Within the endless void, on a shattered, desolate star, the white-robed Ji Ning descended and sat down cross-legged.

“Boom~~~” The primordial chaos manifested, forming a surging vortex. Chaotic power directly wrapped around Ji Ning, flooding madly into his body.

When one breaks through to become a Celestial Immortal or a Pure Yang True Immortal, they absorb elemental energy or immortal pills. But Ji Ning, having fully comprehended the Heavenly Dao of Water, naturally gained a partial understanding of the ‘Chaos Heavenly Dao’ as well, because Water was a part of Chaos… Naturally, Ji Ning was able to draw power directly from Chaos, and a boundless torrent of power poured into his body.

His Pure Yang Golden Core began a new transformation, and the quality of his original ki experienced a qualitative leap.

With the ‘Heavenly Dao of Water’ at its core, he absorbed chaotic power, continuously evolving.

Within the Tristar Crescent Major World.

On an island.

The black-robed Ji Ning walked out of the immortal estate. Uncle White, who was outside the estate, saw him and smiled. “Ning, you’re out.”

“I’m going out for a bit,” Ji Ning replied with a smile.

Whoosh.

The black-robed Ji Ning shot into the sky, quickly vanishing. Soon, another streak of light flew over. It was the Primaltwin clone that had been guarding his daughter. This clone instantly entered the black-robed Ji Ning’s cave-treasure. This Primaltwin clone was also going to undergo its breakthrough together with him.

On a distant, desolate island, the black-robed Ji Ning sat down cross-legged and began to draw power from Chaos. Instantly, a surging tide of chaotic power manifested above the desolate island.

The true body, the true body’s clone, the Primaltwin, and the Primaltwin’s clone all began their breakthroughs.

The true body’s clone was in the ‘World Prison’. It, too, used the Heavenly Dao of Water as its core to absorb chaotic power and break through.

The moment Ji Ning fully comprehended the Heavenly Dao of Water, it immediately caused a resonance within the Heavenly Dao.

“Another major power has comprehended the Heavenly Dao of Water.” “Who was it?”

The instant Ji Ning comprehended it, the other major powers throughout the Three Realms who had also comprehended the ‘Heavenly Dao of Water’ were able to sense it first. Great leaders like Buddha Tathagata, Suiren, and others who had also grasped the Heavenly Dao of Water felt the resonance. Very quickly, they discovered Ji Ning, who was in the midst of a spectacular breakthrough.

“It’s the Sword Immortal Darknorth.” “Haha… Darknorth has finally comprehended a Heavenly Dao.”

The major powers of Nuwa’s camp were all smiling. They were overjoyed. They weren’t surprised at all, because Ji Ning’s level of attainment in the ‘Sword’ was far, far too high. Although the Heavenly Dao was vast and profound, and comprehending a single Heavenly Dao usually took an extremely long time, Ji Ning had only been cultivating for a bit over a thousand years. The time he had taken was truly, absurdly short.

However, since Ji Ning had already possessed the power of a leader-level figure even before reaching a thousand years of cultivation, they weren’t too surprised that he had now comprehended a Heavenly Dao. Of course, they didn’t know… that Ji Ning had actually spent nearly twenty thousand years to comprehend the Heavenly Dao of Water. Even so, twenty thousand years to achieve such a feat was an inconceivably fast speed, unmatched since the primordial era.

Within the Hall of the Myriad Demon Realm.

“It’s the Sword Immortal Darknorth. He’s broken through.” Daofather Ink Bamboo frowned.

“So it’s true that he had yet to comprehend the Heavenly Dao of Water before this,” Daofather Magic Hand frowned. “It seems he was relying purely on his Sword Dao. Just relying on his insights into the Sword, and relying on his True God body, he was able to unleash leader-level power. He could even match the Great Demon God Cixiu… and even his divine body was comparable to a top-grade innate treasure. I really don’t know how Ji Ning cultivates.”

“He’s comprehended one Heavenly Dao, but the Heavenly Dao of Water is far inferior to his insights into the Sword,” Master Stonerule said. “His Ki Refining side was already weak. Even if he becomes a Daofather now, it doesn’t amount to much.”

“Yes.” “The Sword Immortal Darknorth’s strength lies in close combat.”

They all nodded in agreement.

Ji Ning’s divine body was terrifying. He was already a True God and formidable in close combat! Becoming a Daofather now was just icing on the cake; it wouldn’t provide any clear boost to his overall power.

Within the Tristar Crescent Major World.

On the desolate island.

The black-robed Ji Ning felt the surging power of his ki. Although it was only at the Second-Class Ancestral Immortal level, by utilizing the ‘Eighteen Fiendgod Avatars’ and the ‘One True Body’ techniques, his ki power was fully on par with a First-Class Ancestral Immortal.

“First-Class Ancestral Immortal…” “This ki is indeed incomparably mighty and pure. Unfortunately, my Primaltwin lacks a good weapon.” The black-robed Ji Ning frowned internally. Looking across the Three Realms, almost every leader-level major power wielded a Chaos treasure! Daoist Three Purities, for example, used an entire set of Chaos treasures, and was further aided by his self-created Extermination Immortal Sword Diagram.

“My true body has the Violet-Light Qiong divine sword. But for this Primaltwin, I lack a suitable divine weapon. It seems I’ll have to make a trip to the World Prison.” Ji Ning made his decision.

Swoosh.

A figure appeared beside Ji Ning. It was Patriarch Bodhi.

“Ji Ning,” Bodhi said with a smile. “You’ve comprehended a Heavenly Dao and become a Daofather. Congratulations.”

“I was fortunate enough to make the breakthrough before the final battle. Master, I need to leave the Tristar Crescent Major World,” Ji Ning said. Although his realm was now extremely high, and his insight into the Sword was unquestionably the number one in the Three Realms, he was far inferior to Patriarch Bodhi in matters of spacetime.

“Alright.” Bodhi pointed into the void beside him, and a vortex immediately appeared.

A black-robed Ji Ning suddenly appeared beside the black-robed Ji Ning.

Then, one of the Ji Nings stepped into the vortex, while the other remained in the Tristar Crescent Major World.

An ice-cold star within the endless Chaos.

A figure appeared in mid-air, then strode through the void until he reached the canyon and entered the World Prison.

Inside the World Prison.

The white-robed Ji Ning and the black-robed Ji Ning walked side-by-side, both radiating powerful auras.

“Hm?” A dog that was so thin its ribs showed stood up from afar, its murky yellow eyes fixed on them. The creature opened its mouth. “Kid, not bad. You’ve improved your golden core, from third-class to second-class. And you’ve learned a formidable technique that lets you use the power of a first-class golden core.”

The two Ji Nings glanced over and smiled.

“I must thank you for your advice that day.” The white-robed Ji Ning spoke, then quickly flew away.

“What a coward,” the dog sneered.

It had met Ji Ning before, so it knew he had a third-class golden core. Now, however, he gave off the aura of a first-class Ancestral Immortal… First of all, Ji Ning couldn’t be a Chaos Immortal; the oppressive pressure a Chaos Immortal gave off was completely different. Even if a third-class golden core broke through to become a ‘Chaos Immortal’, the result would still be terrifying.

So, it seemed Ji Ning had become an Ancestral Immortal… but a third-class Ancestral Immortal. How did he have the aura of a first-class Ancestral Immortal?

There was only one possibility!

First, he had improved his golden core… The pinnacle of improving one’s golden core was the second-class Ancestral Immortal. Then, he must have relied on some secret technique to make a leap in power, reaching the first-class Ancestral Immortal level.

“I will definitely come to seek your advice another day,” Ji Ning’s voice echoed from afar.

“Another day?” The wild dog’s face instantly fell. “This damned Warden.”

The white-robed Ji Ning and the black-robed Ji Ning flew through the World Prison.

“There are a total of sixteen Elder Gods and Ancestral Immortals imprisoned in the World Prison,” Ji Ning calculated silently. “Those who dared to offend World Gods, who weren’t executed or directly enslaved, but merely imprisoned here… they are all extremely powerful, or have significant backgrounds.”

“I’ve already swept through all the True Gods and True Immortals, and obtained a great deal of knowledge from soul-searching them.”

“Of these sixteen Elder Gods and Ancestral Immortals, the three most terrifying include that wild dog.” Ji Ning thought to himself. “But it’s not my target this time.”

The Wild Dog Elder God was enormously famous within the Nine Directions Chaos Alliance.

He was a natural-born Elder God. Through endless years, he had created only one divine ability — “Devouring”! The Wild Dog Elder God loved to devour things: living beings, delicious food, mountains, water, the sky, the earth… He was a madman! The name he gave his terrifying divine ability was a single, bizarre character: ‘Devour’.

With just this one divine ability, the number of Elder Gods and Ancestral Immortals who had died in his maw had exceeded thirty! The Nine Directions Chaoslord valued his power highly. Although the Wild Dog had defied the Chaoslord’s will, he was merely imprisoned to temper his temperament, with the intention of releasing him in the future to fight for him once more.

The threat posed by the Wild Dog Elder God placed him at the very top among the sixteen imprisoned Elder Gods and Ancestral Immortals. Only two others, with equally fearsome reputations, could match him.

“If that Wild Dog Elder God were released, he would be far more dangerous than the Great Demon God Cixiu,” Ji Ning mused.

“The final battle is coming. I can’t recklessly fight these imprisoned Elder Gods and Ancestral Immortals.” Ji Ning itched for a fight with some of them. After all, even if his true body died, he could recover slowly using his ‘true body’s clone’. However, recovering would take thousands of years, and Ji Ning didn’t have that kind of time to waste.

“Fortunately, my target is the ‘Three-Jade Sword Immortal’,” Ji Ning thought.

The Three-Jade Sword Immortal was one of the sixteen imprisoned Elder Gods and Ancestral Immortals.

He was a Ki Refiner. He possessed a set of three Chaos divine swords, styling himself “Three-Jade,” and his attacks were extremely powerful. Ji Ning was confident against an opponent with such high attack power, because his own supreme protective technique was a perfect counter to it. Of course, Ji Ning’s knowledge of the Three-Jade Sword Immortal’s power came only from the memories of the True Gods and True Immortals he had soul-searched.

Thus, the Three-Jade Sword Immortal might have hidden techniques. Ji Ning didn’t dare be careless. But to obtain that set of three Chaos divine swords, he decided to fight anyway.

“We’re here.”

The white-robed Ji Ning and the black-robed Ji Ning soon saw a black-haired old man radiating an endless, icy aura, sitting cross-legged on a desolate plain far ahead. The old man opened his eyes and frowned at Ji Ning. Since Ji Ning had become the Warden, he had never disturbed this ‘Three-Jade Swordmaster’, so he didn’t recognize him.

“Who are you?” The black-haired old man frowned. “You have the aura of a First-Class Ancestral Immortal. The World Prison’s wardens shouldn’t be this strong.”

“I am the Warden of this World Prison,” the white-robed and black-robed Ji Ning said simultaneously as they descended, radiating powerful auras.

The black-haired old man could sense the threat Ji Ning posed.

“You are the Warden?” the black-haired old man said in a low voice. “If the World Prison has fallen into your hands… it seems the Nine Directions Chaos Alliance has been destroyed. Speak. What do you want from me?”

“Hand over your Three-Jade divine swords,” Ji Ning said calmly.

“Hmph.” A chilling light flashed in the old man’s eyes. “I have killed quite a few Elder Gods and Ancestral Immortals beneath my swords.” Although he was imprisoned, he could still use his full power within a range of a thousand miles. He would not easily bow his head to another Elder God or Ancestral Immortal. They were all forged from slaughter. Many had died beneath his Three-Jade swords.

“It seems we’ll have to fight,” Ji Ning said cautiously. This was his first battle with an Ancestral Immortal.

Many Elder Gods were born as Elder Gods.

But an Ancestral Immortal was someone who had cultivated, step by step! He had to fight, however, because in the upcoming final battle, he needed a set of Chaos divine swords.
