The Secret of Nuwa’s Immortal Realm

1,687 words

Ji Ning, Houyi, Fuxi, and the other great powers appeared high in the sky above the ‘Grand Xia Human World.’ In a single glance, they could see many figures standing before the magnificent Hall of Ten Thousand Races. Daofather Three Purities, Divine Farmer, Suiren, and the others were all waiting outside the hall to receive them.

“Let us go over,” Fuxi said.

“Yes.” Ji Ning, Houyi, and the others took the lead, and the assembled great powers swiftly flew over, landing in front of the Hall of Ten Thousand Races.

“Fellow Daoists, please allow us to offer a salute.” Daofather Three Purities was the first to bow respectfully. Divine Farmer, Suiren, Patriarch Subhuti, and all the other great powers bowed as well. In unison, this gathering of great powers bowed. They were expressing their gratitude to Ji Ning, Fuxi, Houyi, Kuafu, Yuding, and the others for risking death to campaign for so many years. Although there had been setbacks during this campaign—such as the Buddhist Tathagata losing two incarnations—overall, the losses had not been great, and they had achieved their original objectives.

Within the hall. Everyone took their seats. Ji Ning also sat in the main hall, but he chose to sit beside Patriarch Subhuti and Houyi.

“Fellow Daoists,” Daofather Three Purities began, “this time, when our side’s great powers went to campaign the ancient primordial ruins, we did encounter some danger. The strength within those ruins exceeded our expectations, and there were two exceptionally powerful alien leaders among them. Fortunately, Northmont’s strength experienced a sudden and explosive breakthrough, keeping our losses within an acceptable range. Only the Tathagata suffered a relatively great loss.”

The Buddhist Tathagata smiled, looking at Ji Ning. “A loss brings a gain.”

“Haha…” Daofather Three Purities laughed. “The ancient primordial ruins have been destroyed. The Seamless Gate can no longer collude with those alien races and hide within them. If we win the final, decisive battle in the future, we will have no more worries.”

“Northmont has stepped into the leader level,” Suiren spoke up as well. “We have yet to hold a celebratory feast for him.”

“There’s no need for such trouble,” Ji Ning quickly said. It was customary to hold grand celebrations when one became a True God or Daofather. However, Ji Ning’s breakthrough to True God had occurred within the Primordial Chaos, unbeknownst to anyone. He had been continuously campaigning, so a celebration had never been held.

“The final battle is approaching. There is indeed no need to hold a special celebration,” Patriarch Subhuti agreed. “Now that all fellow Daoists are gathered in the Hall of Ten Thousand Races, a simple toast will suffice.”

“Congratulations, Junior Apprentice-Brother Northmont.” Houyi, sitting beside him, raised his cup. “Congratulations, Daoist Northmont.” Below, Lu Dongbin smiled and raised his cup as well. “Congratulations, Sword Immortal Northmont.” “Congratulations, True God Northmont.”

Various titles were used. All the great powers smiled and offered their congratulations. Great powers were generally informal, but because cultivators at this level were so rare in the Three Realms, the birth of each one was a major event. While the timing was different and Ji Ning’s celebration was more casual, the other great powers still maintained a basic level of respect, as he was now at the leader level.

Half a day later. Ji Ning, Patriarch Subhuti, and Fuxi sat side by side on a wooden boat flying through the infinite void. They had left avatars behind in the Hall of Ten Thousand Races. Most of the great powers in the hall were only avatars; their true bodies remained stationed elsewhere. The avatars were there to receive orders at any time.

“Nuwa’s Immortal Realm?” Ji Ning was surprised. “Yes, Nuwa’s Immortal Realm,” Patriarch Subhuti said with a smile. “Before Mother Nuwa left the Three Realms, she specially constructed a cave-heaven immortal realm, breathtakingly beautiful. However, those in the know could be counted on one hand. The other great powers are generally unaware of it. It is a heavily guarded secret of our Nuwa camp.”

“Oh?” Ji Ning was curious. Fuxi and Patriarch Subhuti had brought him out of the Hall of Ten Thousand Races, saying they were going to reveal all the hidden secrets to him, but they needed to go to Nuwa’s Immortal Realm first.

“Let’s go.” Patriarch Subhuti pointed into the distance. A spatial vortex appeared in the void before them. Whoosh. The wooden boat flew into the spatial vortex and vanished.

“Ugh.” A wave of energy swept past shortly after. “Damn it. What exactly are Subhuti, Fuxi, and Ji Ning talking about? Where did they go? Subhuti’s mastery over spacetime is too great. No one in the Three Realms can surpass him. It’s impossible to track them.” The wave of energy quickly dissipated.

After passing through the spatial vortex, a beautiful world appeared before their eyes. In a single glance, they could see flowers, trees, and grass covering the entire world. Birds sang, flowers sent forth their fragrance, and wild beasts ran freely. Clear rivers flowed, and a thousand-zhang waterfall thundered as it crashed into a deep pool below. Countless ravines and rivers eventually converged into the sea. It was a beautiful, pure world, devoid of any intelligent life save for the most common, simple-minded birds and beasts.

“Whew.” Patriarch Subhuti waved his hand, putting away the wooden boat. “To enter Nuwa’s Immortal Realm, one must rely on this artifact,” Patriarch Subhuti said with a smile. “Mother Nuwa refined a total of three of these boat-type treasures back then. Without one of them, entry is impossible. Even I can find this hidden world due to my control over spacetime, but I am completely unable to break through the cave-heaven’s barrier and force my way in.”

“You can at least find it. For our part, we can’t even locate Nuwa’s Immortal Realm,” Fuxi said with a laugh. “Nuwa was indeed formidable. She grasped many Daos, including spacetime to a considerable degree.” Ji Ning sighed to himself in amazement. Nuwa’s Immortal Realm was hidden so deeply that entry required a specially refined flying treasure. It seemed that this truly was a place where the secrets of the Three Realms were kept.

“Enter.” Patriarch Subhuti and Fuxi flew ahead, and Ji Ning followed. They soon arrived at a beautiful peach orchard, surrounded by lovely peach blossoms. Within the orchard were some simple wooden cottages.

“Come in.” Patriarch Subhuti was the first to enter one of the cottages. Ji Ning followed him inside. As soon as he entered, he saw that the interior was simply furnished. There were bookshelves, and on the shelves were stacks of jade slips. Patriarch Subhuti pointed at them and said, “These several cottages contain a large number of jade slips, as well as some storage treasures. These jade slips… They record every powerful technique, divine ability, and secret art possessed by our Nuwa camp! Not only ours, but many techniques from those chaotic alien races are also recorded here.”

“All of them?” Ji Ning was surprised. Great powers generally kept their own trump cards hidden.

“Would the great powers be willing to offer up their special techniques?” Ji Ning asked curiously. “If they concealed them, Mother Nuwa likely wouldn’t know, would she?”

“Mother Nuwa had become a Pangu God, her realm was so high. When faced with her… it’s impossible for any of the great powers to hide anything from her.” Patriarch Subhuti shook his head. “You have never met Mother Nuwa. If you had, you would understand that it is impossible to lie to her. The number one fate-manipulating treasure of the Three Realms, the ‘Book of Life and Death,’ was refined by Mother Nuwa herself.”

Ji Ning nodded. The Book of Life and Death was truly heaven-defying. It recorded the lives of countless beings in the Three Realms and could change the fate of living creatures.

“Moreover, Mother Nuwa would also give guidance to the various great powers,” Patriarch Subhuti said. “These techniques are of little use to you. What is truly useful to you… is the technique left behind by Mother Nuwa.”

“Oh?” Ji Ning was taken aback. “Swish.” Patriarch Subhuti pointed at the cottage wall.

A technique immediately appeared on the wall, densely packed with text. “This is the ‘Inner View of the Pangu God’s Manual,’” Patriarch Subhuti said, pointing at it. “After Mother Nuwa became a Pangu God, she was generally referred to as a ‘World God’ in the endless chaos. Having reached the World God level, she delved deeply into the mysteries of the divine body and expended boundless effort to create this ‘Inner View of the Pangu God’s Manual.’ By relying on this technique, one hopes to become an Elder God.”

“Although we have killed some alien races, the techniques for becoming an Elder God are all secret transmissions, protected by life oaths. It is impossible to get our hands on them.” “You have become a True God, Ji Ning. This technique should be useful to you.” Patriarch Subhuti said.

Ji Ning looked carefully. He hadn’t expected… That the Nuwa camp actually possessed a technique that could allow one to cultivate to the Elder God level! This was incredibly, incredibly difficult.

“This technique is extremely important. After all, the birth of every single Elder God has a tremendous impact on the entire Three Realms,” Patriarch Subhuti explained. “Thus, within our Nuwa camp, only True Gods with exceptional talent and absolute loyalty have the hope of obtaining this technique. If we cannot confirm one’s loyalty, there is no way we would allow this technique to leak out.”

Ji Ning carefully examined it. As he read, he grew astonished. The ‘Forlorn World God’ technique was an extremely formidable method, allowing one to cultivate all the way to the World God level. It followed a very sophisticated principle of seeking a single spark of light for the divine body amidst endless desolation.

The ‘Inner View of the Pangu God’s Manual,’ on the other hand, had a quality of ‘visualization.’ It used illusion to draw forth reality, and then cultivated to success. Its principles were completely different from those of the Forlorn World God.
