The All-Thing Avatar

1,859 words

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The heavens shattered and the earth split apart.

The Pangu God, clad in his beast-skin skirt, and the ‘Limitless Demonfiend’, armored for war, clashed in brutal combat.

On one side, Nuwa’s camp’s ‘Annihilation Immortal Formation’ and the Seamless Gate’s ‘Two-Realm Calamity Dragon Birth-Annihilation Formation’ launched repeated long-range attacks from afar, their power rippling across the entire battlefield.

Long-range assaults. Fortified defenses. Tactical reinforcements.

The Seven Radiance Empyrean Gods and their puppet allies moved with fluid precision, throwing the enemy lines into disarray.

The wilderness beneath them was beaten so savagely that it would shatter, revealing the cold void of the outer cosmos, only to be forcibly reformed moments later.

“When you gather this many Empyrean Gods and True Immortals in one place, it truly is terrifying,” Ji Ning muttered, watching with bated breath. “If even one side makes a mistake, the entire battle line could collapse.”

“The commanders on both sides are also remarkably skilled,” he continued his analysis. Under the brilliant leadership of Xuanhuang the Human Sovereign, every major formation and the hundred-odd Seven Radiance Empyrean Gods moved as a single, flawless organism. Their coordination was seamless, leaving no gaps for the enemy to exploit. In contrast, Daofather Demonhand’s offensive was a chaotic frenzy. There was even one moment where she nearly managed to destroy a Seven Radiance Empyrean God.

Indeed.

After all this brutal slaughter, not a single Seven Radiance Empyrean God on Nuwa’s side had fallen! This was the absolute testament to Xuanhuang’s strategic brilliance. He was nearly impossible to catch off-guard.

“Sound the retreat,” Xuanhuang ordered.

Rumble…

Following his precise commands, the grand army of Nuwa’s camp began an orderly withdrawal, giving the enemy not a single opening to exploit.

The first major skirmish of the war came to an end.

At this tier of warfare, even the violent madwoman, ‘Daofather Demonhand’, was forced to remain utterly calm. One moment of carelessness could prove fatal for the entire campaign. In truth, battles of this magnitude were more a contest of ‘who could make the fewer mistakes’. Although Demonhand was renowned for her relentless offense, she rarely made errors in troop command. She lived by the creed: ‘The best defense is a lethal offense’.

Under her direction, the Seamless Gate’s assaults placed immense pressure on Xuanhuang.

But…

Xuanhuang was demonstrably the more experienced commander. The coordination of his troops was like flowing water—perfectly cohesive, seamless, and utterly without flaw.

In the blink of an eye, both sides had clashed three times, and over a month of war had passed.

“Martial Aunt, this trend is not good,” the black-robed Godking said, standing beside a petite woman in purple robes who was seated on a throne. His heart trembled with unease. “In every engagement, our losses are heavier than theirs. It’s a small difference now, but if this war of attrition drags on for two or three years, our weakness will become critical.”

The woman in purple had eyes that seemed to contain a boundless sea of blood. When it came to sheer killing power, she was unmatched within the Seamless Gate—a true demon among demons.

“Mm?” The woman glanced at the Godking.

“I am merely concerned,” the Godking hurriedly explained.

“You are right,” the woman said, her right hand, clad in a white, crystalline glove, tapping thoughtfully on her armrest. “In all my campaigns through the Seamless Chaosworld, I have never encountered a commander of such skill. At this level of warfare, the slaughter is blindingly fast, with countless variables shifting in an instant. And yet, he has managed to calculate every single one of them, perfectly orchestrating his entire army in response… No wonder he defeated the Divine Farmer back in the primordial era.”

“Then what shall we do?” the Godking pressed.

The only ones within the Seamless Gate who could make the Godking behave so obediently were the Lord of All Demons, Master Stonerule, and Daofather Demonhand.

“This battle must be won,” the purple-robed woman declared. “If we lose this one, the war to come will be far, far more difficult. We would have to expend immense resources, and even then, we might not win the final contest for destiny.”

The Godking grumbled to himself. Of course, everyone knows that.

“Arrange for an All-Thing Avatar to be sent,” the woman ordered.

“An All-Thing Avatar?” The black-robed Godking was startled. He couldn’t help but protest, “To deploy one now? But… these were meant to be held in reserve for the final, decisive battle over destiny!”

“Arrange it,” she said, her tone flat. “Otherwise, we cannot win.”

“Very well. However, this will require the Lord of All Demons’ approval,” the Godking said quickly.

“Go, now,” the woman ordered, a slight furrow appearing on her brow. A trace of murderous intent leaked from her eyes, causing the Godking’s heart to seize with fear. After all, he had been born and raised in the Seamless Chaosworld. Even as a Daofather, the terror he felt towards Daofather Demonhand was etched into his very bones. She was a madwoman. Others might respect the Godking as the nominal leader of the Seamless Gate and the disciple of the Lord of Demonheart, but this madwoman wouldn’t hesitate to lay her hands on the Lord of Demonheart himself, let alone him.

…

The Realm of All Demons.

A lone mountain peak.

A man with long green hair, wearing a red robe, sat at the summit, gazing into the endless void. His eyes pierced through the membrane of the world, seeing the vast emptiness beyond.

“Hmph.” A figure materialized beside him—the black-robed Godking.

“Lord of All Demons,” the Godking said with reverence.

“What is it?” the Lord of All Demons asked, glancing at him.

“My Martial Aunt’s side has little chance of victory. As things stand, she is likely to lose. She sent me to request an All-Thing Avatar,” the Godking stated.

The Lord of All Demons frowned. After a moment, he said, “Very well. Go to Wu Xiao and claim one to bring to Demonhand.”

“Understood.” The Godking bowed and departed.

The Lord of All Demons stared into the endless void, muttering to himself, “I truly wish I could go back to the old days. I could hide behind Demonheart and Stonerule… But now, I’m forced to stand out in front. And they call me the Lord of All Demons, the ‘Demon Lord’? Being the ‘Wind Demon’ was far, far more carefree than being this so-called ‘Demon Lord’. I have no idea how this war will end. Lady Nuwa might have left, but before she did, she left behind the Three Clan-Protecting Formations. It’s hard to say just how powerful those three formations truly are.”

He shook his head. “If it comes to the worst, I will save who I can and leave the Three Realms.”

He had no love for power.

Back in the age of the Seamless Chaosworld, he had always kept a low profile. The most glorious figures had been the Lord of Demonheart, Master Stonerule, and Daofather Righthand. No one had paid much attention to this ‘Wind Demon’, despite his noble origin as a ‘Primal Fiendfiend’. In fact, many of the major powers of that era had believed the Wind Demon owed his status solely to his birthright and had never amounted to anything.

The Wind Demon hadn’t cared. He had been perfectly happy in his carefree existence.

But the Dawn War had been too brutal. His old brothers and friends fell one by one. The Lord of All Things had been utterly ruthless, attempting to destroy both the Seamless and Pangu Chaosworlds in a single stroke! And Lady Nuwa had been even more terrifying—achieving a sudden breakthrough to an entirely new level, sweeping the battlefield and slaughtering even the dreaded Lord of All Things.

In that deadly crisis, the Wind Demon had been forced to unleash his full power. In fact, amidst the shadow of death, he had broken through yet another bottleneck, forcing even Lady Nuwa to give up the chase.

He had wandered in the loneliness of the Chaos for a very long time before returning.

“I just wanted a place to call home,” the Lord of All Demons murmured. And yet, he had been forced by the survivors of the Seamless Gate onto the pedestal of ‘Demon Lord’, becoming their true, de facto leader.

“Just what is this calamity? That Demonheart is scheming… is there something more to this…?” The Lord of All Demons frowned.

Ever since his breakthrough while fleeing from Lady Nuwa, his sensitivity to the threads of fate had become unmatched in the Three Realms. He had a vague feeling that this tribulation was far more terrible than he could imagine.

…

The Celestial Immortal Wu Xiao stood before a towering puppet. It was a colossal, ape-like automaton, its entire body a dull, dark-red, with faint flames writhing across its surface.

“Take it away,” Wu Xiao instructed.

The black-robed Godking let his gaze sweep across the other All-Thing Avatars lined up nearby, his heart itched with greed.

“Remember, have the most skilled Empyrean God pilot it,” Wu Xiao ordered. “In theory, a Daofather should be the pilot. Even so, this single All-Thing Avatar will be able to unleash power comparable to a top-tier Daofather.”

“Understood.” The Godking nodded quickly.

Back in the day, the Lord of All Things had commanded an army of these All-Thing Avatars, and they had been powerful enough to directly assault the leaders of the Daoist and Buddhist sects. With an Empyrean God now piloting one, it could still match a top-tier Daofather.

“And, tell Demonhand to be absolutely certain that Nuwa’s camp is not allowed to capture this All-Thing Avatar,” Wu Xiao added with a cold laugh. “I’m afraid they might lose all sense of decency and have one of their leaders—the Three Sovereigns, or the leaders of the Buddhist and Daoist sects—launch a surprise attack and steal it away.”

“Rest assured, Martial Aunt Demonhand, Master Stonerule, and the Lord of All Demons are all keeping a close eye on this battle. The True Gods and Daofathers on Nuwa’s side won’t have a chance,” the Godking replied.

“Oh, by the way, has Ji Ning joined the battle yet?” Wu Xiao pressed.

“No,” the Godking shook his head.

“What a shame,” Wu Xiao said, unwilling to let the matter go.

He desperately wanted to kill Ji Ning. Although his mind was almost entirely focused on his puppets, the girl he had poured his rare affection into was dead by this man’s hand. Of course he hated Ji Ning! Even if Ji Ning had only acted in self-defense against an assassination attempt, Wu Xiao couldn't be bothered with such trivialities.

“Don’t worry, Martial Uncle. As soon as Ji Ning dares to step onto the battlefield, I will beg Martial Aunt Demonhand to give him her ‘special attention’,” the Godking said with a smile. “Grandmaster, I will take my leave now.”

“Go on, then,” Wu Xiao nodded.

With a wave of his hand, the Godking stowed the All-Thing Avatar away and departed from the Realm of All Demons, heading straight for the Battle of Zhuolu Major World.
