The Honor Form

1,915 words

The Ruyi Lightning-Serpent Shuttle flew at high speed, following the direction of the Floating Wooden Bridge. Yet Ji Ning remained constantly on guard. He always felt that beneath the seemingly calm surface of the Moon Underwater Abyss world, a terrifying killing intent lurked.

Deep in the seawater.

A humanoid creature, entirely emerald green and holding a steel trident, rapidly approached. It would occasionally vanish from sight, only to reappear a hundred thousand li away in the ocean. Soon, it arrived ahead of Ji Ning and quietly lay in ambush. Its dark-red pupils stared through the seawater at the distant shuttle speeding along the Floating Wooden Bridge. A long tongue licked its face as it muttered to itself, “Hard to come across a prey. Hope he’s strong enough. Otherwise, this’ll be boring.”

“Here he comes.”

“Kill.”

The emerald-green humanoid creature suddenly burst out from the seawater, transforming into a streak of green light that shot straight at Ji Ning.

“Hm?” Ji Ning, who had been flying for a long time without letting his vigilance waver, was startled. “He got this close, and I didn’t notice him at all.”

The Candle Dragon’s Eye was active; twin candle-flames flickered in Ji Ning’s gaze, allowing him to see the creature clearly.

It was a sea-demon, resembling a Yaksha, with savage, baleful light in its dark-red eyes. The steel trident it held was thrust directly at Ji Ning.

“Let me capture him and have a look.” Ji Ning reached out. His palm instantly expanded, blotting out the sky like a vast curtain descending upon the green Yaksha. This was his Starseizing Hand divine ability. The Yaksha sensed an immense crisis and let out an angry shriek. “Break!”

“Oh? That green Yaksha is speaking the language of the Nine Chaos Nations?” Ji Ning mused to himself.

But his hand showed no mercy.

Boom~~~

Although the steel trident stabbed into his palm, the enormous Starseizing Hand nonetheless closed around the green Yaksha. No matter how the creature struggled, it could not break free.

“Tell me, what exactly is this world? And what about the thousands of Empyrean Gods who came before me?” Ji Ning’s hand clenched around his foe as he spoke coldly.

“Hehe, not bad. You’re actually somewhat skilled.” The trapped green Yaksha let out a harsh, grating laugh, its dark-red eyes appraising Ji Ning. “Interesting, interesting. It’s been so long since I’ve met a worthy opponent. To capture one of my avatars in a single exchange — this is fun. Fun!”

“Avatar?” Ji Ning was stunned.

“Kid, this is just the beginning.” The green Yaksha grinned viciously, then dissolved into a stream of water. The watery current swiftly began to slip away from Ji Ning’s grasp.

“Turning into water?” Ji Ning gave a cold shout. “Even if you turn into a ghost, don’t think you’ll escape.”

Boom.

Another enormous palm descended.

Ji Ning’s left hand and right hand, like two vast dark clouds, slammed together with ferocious force. Bang~~~~ The stream of water caught between the two massive palms was naturally completely annihilated. Only a shrieking voice echoed through the air: “Hahaha… interesting. Interesting!”

After obliterating the green Yaksha, the white-robed youth stood atop the Ruyi Lightning-Serpent Shuttle. The sea breeze blew, making his white robes flutter.

“Judging by what that green Yaksha said, that was just one of his avatars? And he attacked me without any warning. I haven’t encountered a single Empyrean God… could it be that all the previous ones are dead?” A chill ran through Ji Ning. Those were thousands of Empyrean Gods! Although most were ordinary, some were supreme — perhaps even stronger than him!

Without relying on the Rahu Formation, cultivators of the level of Red Snow Empyrean God, Silvermoon Empyrean God, or Golden Crow Empyrean God from the Mount Innerheart lineage were not opponents Ji Ning could defeat in a direct fight. After all, his ‘Dao’ was still lacking. Unless his Sword Force reached the fourth stage, he would not be able to match figures like Red Snow in direct combat.

“I need to be more careful.”

The Ruyi Lightning-Serpent Shuttle continued forward.

“Interesting! To directly destroy one of my avatars.”

“Hahaha… It’s been a while since I’ve faced such a strong opponent.”

“Powerful opponents are more fun.”

“Ga ga ga.”

“Kill, kill, kill.”

One by one, green Yakshas rapidly converged from the seas ahead of Ji Ning. Their shrill cries echoed across heaven and earth. After the time it took an incense stick to burn, Ji Ning, riding the shuttle, heard the howls reverberating through the void. Shrieks and mad laughter came from all directions across the ocean — there were clearly many of them.

“Gathering together?” Ji Ning’s eyes flickered with candlelight as he looked around, even able to see through the water at the hordes of green Yakshas below.

“So many.” Ji Ning was somewhat shocked. Just from what his Candle Dragon Eye could see, there were already over a hundred Yakshas. The one he had killed earlier had seemed easy to deal with, but it was actually on the level of an Empyrean God. With enough numbers, they could definitely suppress him.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!!!!!! The seawater exploded everywhere. Around Ji Ning, green Yakshas burst forth from the water on all sides, standing on the surface. Each one stared at him with savage, greedy eyes.

Ji Ning willed the shuttle away. He had already realized that in terms of speed, his Ruyi Lightning-Serpent Shuttle was no match for these green Yakshas in the water. Since that was the case, he had no choice but to fight. There was no escape.

“Five hundred and nineteen avatars.” Two blood-colored divine swords appeared in Ji Ning’s hands. At this point, he had no choice but to rely on his sword-art.

“I have no wish to be your enemy.” Ji Ning swept his gaze across the dense ranks of green Yakshas surrounding him.

“Hahaha… but kid, I want to kill you.” All five hundred and nineteen Yakshas spoke at once, their voices merging into a single sound that had the power to sway the Dao-heart. “Be careful now. Don’t say I used dirty tricks. I’m giving you a fair fight, one-on-one.”

Ji Ning gripped his divine swords, growing even more vigilant.

“Go!”

Instantly, swoosh swoosh swoosh… ten green Yakshas charged at Ji Ning simultaneously, their steel tridents raised.

White-robed Ji Ning held two blood-colored swords. Suddenly, murderous intent flashed in his eyes. The two swords turned into blurs.

Pfft. Pfft. Pfft…

One after another, the green Yakshas were split in two. In a single exchange, all ten were cut apart.

The Shadowless Stance of the Brightmoon Sword-Art!

The most bizarre and also the fastest Stance. It struck the enemy from unpredictable angles, cleaving them in two. Clearly, these green Yakshas could not defend against this sword-art.

“Hm?” Ji Ning’s expression changed slightly. The severed Yakshas first dissolved into water, then the water reformed back into ten green Yakshas. The killing intent in the eyes of all five hundred and nineteen Yakshas grew even more fanatical.

In the same instant, all five hundred plus green Yakshas charged at Ji Ning.

Three Heads, Six Arms!” Ji Ning’s form flickered, manifesting three heads and six arms. Six divine swords appeared in his hands. Faced with this torrent of enemies attacking from every direction, Ji Ning dared not use the Lesser Thousand Sword Formation.

Confronted by the overwhelming onslaught, Ji Ning’s six blood-colored swords turned into streaks of bloody light. Too fast. The streaks of light surrounded him, blocking every incoming Yaksha. Many of them were sliced apart and sent flying, only to reform again.

Although they could reform after being cut, Ji Ning noticed that the Yakshas he had killed before were clearly somewhat weaker now.

But he could also feel the threat.

There were simply too many enemies. Each one was on the level of an Empyrean God. Even with his sword-art, occasionally a Yaksha managed to land a blow on his divine body. However, his body had reached the ninth cycle of the Eight-Nine Arcane Art — it was not so easily worn down. If this dragged on, the enemy would probably break first. After all, he was only using the Three Heads, Six Arms technique, which consumed very little divine power. For an Empyrean God with a near-perfect divine body, he could fight for months without issue. If he used the Starseizing Hand, his sustained combat time would shrink a hundredfold.

“Damn it!!!!” An enraged roar shook the heavens.

All five hundred plus green Yakshas flew backward simultaneously, hovering in midair. Fury was written on every single face. Then, they rapidly began to crash into each other. When they collided, they completely merged. The green Yakshas in the sky dwindled in number, fusing into fewer and fewer figures.

The fused Yakshas first became a deep-green color, then black, then dark gold. When the final two dark-gold Yakshas slammed into each other, they formed a single golden Yaksha. Its aura was so powerful that even Ji Ning trembled with shock.

This golden Yaksha was ten zhang tall, and its aura was close to that of a True God.

“To force me to manifest my Honor form… you’re not bad. In all these years, over a thousand Empyrean Gods have died without ever seeing my Honor.” The golden Yaksha’s voice was low.

“What? Over a thousand Empyrean Gods?” Ji Ning’s heart shuddered. Most of those thousands of Empyrean Gods were from Nuwa’s camp. After all, during the primordial era, the greatest number of them had entered. Ji Ning had originally thought that if he could get out, he might find a way to bring out the thousands of Empyrean Gods from his own side.

So…

So many had already died at the hands of this Yaksha. Of course. Even under the siege of over five hundred of these Yaksha avatars, breaking through was no easy feat.

“But those who have died to my Honor form…” The golden Yaksha looked at Ji Ning. A steel trident suddenly appeared in its hand — a simple, ancient weapon, but its aura was clearly far more powerful than before. “…number over two thousand Empyrean Gods.”

“To die at the hands of my Honor form, you should be grateful.” The golden Yaksha grinned savagely. “All of you want the treasures left by my master. Do you think it will be that easy?”

Ji Ning’s pupils contracted.

Master?

Ever since entering the Moon Underwater Abyss, Ji Ning had felt that this should be a place created by some ancient, unfathomable power. The Floating Wooden Bridge that stretched for billions of li, the way it blocked Heartforce and divine sense — this was clearly the deliberate work of some great power. It didn’t seem like something born from the spontaneous evolution of chaos.

“You want the treasures? Trade them with your life!” The golden Yaksha laughed weirdly. Then, gripping the ancient steel trident, it vanished with a whoosh, leaving a trail of golden light in the air as it appeared before Ji Ning. Too fast. Ji Ning could only raise his swords to block.

Bang~~~

Ji Ning was sent flying backward like a shooting star. In this single exchange, he understood: “His strength is almost at the level of a True God. No wonder over three thousand Empyrean Gods have died at his hands.”
