The Gift of Chaos Nectar
1,936 words
Ji Ning traveled through the chaos aboard the Void Boat, soon arriving at the frozen star that concealed the 'World Prison Stele.'
Whoosh.
A streak of black lightning serpent suddenly appeared, wrapping around the Void Boat before rapidly shuttling through millions of li to reach a desolate, icy plain. The plain stretched on endlessly, covered in ice. Ji Ning put away the Void Boat and landed on the plain, smiling at the ground. “Come out.”
“Boom!” “Boom!” “Boom!”
Three streaks of light shot out from deep within the ice, flying before Ji Ning—three flying swords.
“Master.”
“Greetings, Master.”
“Master, are you taking us out to fight?”
Three black-robed children appeared on the three flying swords, looking about four or five years old, all adorable and handsome with faces that made one want to pinch them. But dressed in black robes, their auras were cold and sinister… though their voices were full of excited energy.
Ji Ning smiled.
These three flying swords were none other than the Northsea Swords! They had been placed within the World Prison, where many chaos aliens had died at Ji Ning's hands—including a True Immortal whose strength rivaled that of a Daofather in the Three Realms. The savage killing intent produced had been immense, and through the 'Karmic-Sin Divine Weapon' technique, the three Northsea Swords had now broken through the limits of Pure Yang and reached the level of Innate spirit-treasures.
A Pure Yang supreme-grade treasure, upon becoming an Innate treasure, would directly become a top-grade Innate spirit-treasure.
All three Northsea Swords were now top-grade Innate spirit-treasures. Yet Ji Ning felt they were close to becoming 'Innate supreme-grade treasures,' after all, the killing intent produced by the death of that female True Immortal in the World Prison was extraordinarily fierce. Since he was about to deal with the Seamless Gate and lacked powerful swords, he had specially sent an avatar to retrieve these three Northsea Swords.
During the Great Tribulation, Ji Ning remained cautious.
He would never go to the site of the stele again, lest some great power secretly trail him. If he went to retrieve treasures from the 'stele' and was discovered, he would be completely exposed. By sending the treasures ahead of time, even if someone tried to follow him, they wouldn't know about the stele.
Of course…
With his fourth-level Heartforce, it was extremely difficult for anyone to track Ji Ning without his knowledge. The Seamless Gate had such beings, but the current Ji Ning wasn't qualified to attract their attention.
“Of course it's battle. Big One, Big Two, Little Three, this time let the Seamless Gate taste your power.” Ji Ning laughed.
“Those idiots from the Seamless Gate are dead.”
“We're going to show off our might!”
“Mm.”
The three little ones were full of anticipation. Artifact spirits born through karmic sin developed slower, and the Northsea Swords had only followed Ji Ning for a short time. Given enough time, they could have developed intelligence even at the Pure Yang level. Now, breaking through to Innate, they had directly given birth to Innate artifact spirits.
Innate artifact spirits could be considered true lifeforms, capable of independent existence and even cultivation.
Take the Golden-Furred Bear King of the Starseizing Manor—Ji Ning had once seen him weep, feeling he was almost like a real living being. And indeed, over the long years, the Golden-Furred Bear King had long been cultivating. After Ji Ning entered the aquatic palace and became Daoist Threelives' successor, the Golden-Furred Bear King devoted himself entirely to Ji Ning. Until Ji Ning became an Empyrean God, he wouldn't even let Ji Ning fully refine the aquatic palace.
Back then, when Ji Ning had formally acknowledged Patriarch Subhuti as his master, Subhuti had said the Golden-Furred Bear King could not leave the Starseizing Manor, because if he did, Ji Ning would lose control of the manor.
Now Ji Ning had absolute control.
But during the Great Tribulation, the Golden-Furred Bear King was content to remain an artifact spirit, recognizing Ji Ning as master. After all, striking out alone in the Great Tribulation was far too dangerous.
“Let's go.” With the three Northsea Swords, Ji Ning set off once more.
Returning to the Three Realms, he contacted his master through a token and returned to the Tristar Crescent Major World.
On Mount Innerheart.
Inside a Daoist shrine.
“Master.” Ji Ning bowed respectfully.
Bodhi looked at Ji Ning.
“Master, please take a look.” Ji Ning handed a bamboo scroll to Bodhi.
“At another technique?” Patriarch Subhuti smiled, accepting it, but his smile faded as his divine sense delved into the scroll, becoming fully absorbed.
Ji Ning waited silently.
Patriarch Subhuti, holding the scroll, could not help but exclaim, “What a divine ability, what a divine ability. Even I feel tempted to cultivate it. Unfortunately, the requirements are far too harsh—both the body transformation and the taming of a Nine-Horned Lightning Serpent are incredibly difficult. Disciple, I heard that you went to the Lord of Thunder earlier. I was wondering what business you could have with him, but now that I see this technique, I suspect you went to him for the Lightning Serpent?”
“Yes,” Ji Ning nodded.
“Ah, to that Lord of Thunder, the Nine-Horned Lightning Serpent is his very life,” Patriarch Subhuti shook his head. “The Lord of Thunder has always been known for his violent temperament. During the primordial era of struggles for supremacy, he was infamous for his ferocity and aloofness. He offended many great powers, but thanks to his strength and his lack of ambition for conquest, he has survived to this day. Not even the Human Sovereigns, the Tathagata Buddha, or Daoist Three Purities could reason with him.”
Ji Ning smiled.
He had already witnessed the Lord of Thunder's temper. If the Lord of Thunder had been more reasonable, he could have simply explained himself, and Ji Ning wouldn't have pressed. But the Lord of Thunder had immediately turned hostile, driving Ji Ning away with a harsh scolding. Clearly, someone of such arrogance and violence would not deign to explain.
“This technique… is truly remarkable.” Bodhi couldn't help but praise. “As things stand in the Three Realms, the Lord of All Demons of the Seamless Gate camp ranks first in speed, while our side's Daofather Golden Crow ranks second.”
Ji Ning understood.
Daofather Golden Crow was the sole survivor of the nine Golden Crows that Houyi had shot down long ago. That Golden Crow had been saved by Mother Nuwa, and at that time, it was only at the Empyrean God level. Now it had become a Daofather. Its 'Sun Golden Flame' technique was truly formidable, but it still fell far short of the Lord of All Demons.
During the primordial Dawn War, Mother Nuwa had broken through to the Pangu God level and slew the Lord of All Demons, forcing the 'King' of the Seamless Gate to merge into the Heavenly Dao to survive. Meanwhile, the Lord of All Demons had taken many of the Seamless Gate's elites and escaped! To escape from a Pangu God was a testament to the Lord of All Demons' incredible skill.
“Great powers in the Three Realms have attempted to create techniques like this before, and none succeeded. Only the Golden Crow is naturally gifted with such speed. The chaos aliens truly have extraordinary talents. This technique's body transformation is difficult, but many of the Three Realms' great powers could probably manage it. However, taming a Nine-Horned Lightning Serpent… I've heard of the Thousand-Blight Divine Fruit, the Thunder-Alloy Godcrystal, and Chaos Nectar, yet none of these exist in our Three Realms.”
“If one of our most supreme great powers were to master this technique, their speed might not be inferior to that of the Lord of All Demons.” Patriarch Subhuti sighed with deep emotion.
Daofather Golden Crow possessed the Sun Golden Flame technique, but in other Heavenly Daos and aspects, he was far inferior to the Lord of All Demons.
“A pity, a pity.” Patriarch Subhuti shook his head.
Ji Ning simply handed six black bottles to Bodhi.
“Mm?” Bodhi was startled.
Ji Ning just looked at his master, saying nothing.
Bodhi suddenly seemed to realize something, and a look of shock appeared in his eyes. He took the six black bottles, and as his divine sense probed them, he sensed drops of liquid within, each drop seeming to contain an endless world. He had never seen Chaos Nectar before, but the Three Realms had killed many chaos aliens over the ages, obtained some of their tomes, and soul-searched them. He knew the characteristics of Chaos Nectar.
And with a single probe from his divine sense, the liquid was so mysteriously profound, filled with an aura of chaos, that Bodhi immediately deduced it was Chaos Nectar.
“You…” Bodhi looked at Ji Ning, his expression a mix of shock and complex emotion.
Such a treasure!
The great powers of the Three Realms would covet it, but they had no means to obtain it. To distill Chaos Nectar required constructing a massive formation. Back then, the 'Ninefang Kingdom Master' had gone through immense hardship to acquire such a formation. Afterwards, a long time was needed. In the Three Realms, they lacked both the formation and the personnel to set it up, not to mention time.
And Chaos Nectar could transform into all things. For instance, the 'Eighteen Deities of Taowu' used Chaos Nectar to refine their second layer. It was also needed to tame the Nine-Horned Lightning Serpent, and it had other applications.
Such treasures…
And Ji Ning had simply offered them up?
If he hadn't, no one would have known.
A cultivator defied the Heavens, seizing the essence of Heaven and Earth and the myriad daos to advance. Bodhi valued Ji Ning, but he treated all disciples equally. He had never expected Ji Ning to bestow such a great gift! This was a treasure that could have a huge impact on the entire Nuwa Alliance.
For example, if the most supreme beings of the Three Realms, like 'Suiren,' mastered this technique, then in the final battle, Suiren could fight whoever he wanted and leave whenever he pleased, greatly increasing his influence on the battlefield.
This technique alone…
Was more valuable than adding one or two True God Daofathers to the Nuwa Alliance. Of course, that was only if beings like Suiren or Daoist Three Purities cultivated it. For weaker cultivators, its value would be much lower.
“From today onward,” Bodhi looked at Ji Ning and sent directly, “I will claim that I discovered this treasure. Do you understand?”
Ji Ning was taken aback.
“Foolish child!” Bodhi looked at him, “If word gets out that you discovered this treasure, even some great powers in our Nuwa Alliance might develop wicked intentions. They might try to force you to give them more.”
“Though we are in the same camp, during the primordial era, we still fought amongst ourselves. The Lord of Thunder's ferocity is just one example. Even within our camp, there are fiends, depraved, evil beings. Only the dire threat of the Holy War has united us.” Bodhi looked at Ji Ning, “You must never speak of this treasure. Of course, I am just being cautious. I will only tell the three Human Sovereigns, Daoist Three Purities, and a few others. We will deliberate and decide who should cultivate this technique. Their hearts are noble and would not harm a junior like you.”
Bodhi looked at Ji Ning, growing even more fond of him.
Such merit… was immense.
