The Brightmoon Birth and the Luohou Formation

1,692 words

“You’ve mastered it?” Bodhi sat down cross-legged across from Ji Ning. “Sit.”

Ji Ning also sat down cross-legged, nodding. “It’s still just a rough framework.”

“What is the sword-art called?” Bodhi asked.

“The Brightmoon Sword-Art,” Ji Ning said.

Bodhi nodded. “The sword-art you’ve created is not bad. It already possesses the aura needed to establish a sect within the Three Realms. Though it’s still very immature, its future potential is limitless. Haha… the method you used to create it was quite interesting. Suppressing your own power to spar with Zifu Disciples, Wanxiang Adepts, and Primal Daoists… and you actually managed to create a sword-art this way. Before you, perhaps some of the mighty figures of the Three Realms had exchanged pointers with weaker cultivators, but none of them ever created a peerless sword-art through repeated sparring.”

“Your disciple is ashamed,” Ji Ning said.

“I’ve thought it over carefully… the swords of weaker cultivators are slower and weaker, and by suppressing yourself to be even weaker, sparring with them allowed you to constantly ponder your sword-art,” Bodhi said. “But sparring with the weak will never lead to great success. Your future opponents will not be comparable to these weaklings.”

Ji Ning said, “Your disciple understands. Sparring with the weak is only for creating the rough foundation of a sword-art.”

When sparring with the strong…

Both sides are very powerful, making it difficult to clearly see each other’s strengths and weaknesses. By casting aside the powers of ki, Sword Force, Heartforce, and so forth, Ji Ning had been able to discover his own sword path. The rough framework was formed. Only afterwards would he spar with the strong to perfect it.

“Haha, you have patience.” Bodhi nodded. “Mm, as long as you understand this principle, that’s good. The reason I came today is also because of Fuxi.”

Ji Ning’s heart immediately leapt with joy.

Fuxi?

Earlier, he had offered up the Seven Techniques, and Fuxi had promised to create a formation specifically for him, saying it would take a decade.

“You’ve been focused on comprehending your sword, so I didn’t want to interrupt you.” Bodhi produced a rolled-up bamboo slip. “This is a formation specifically created for you. It’s very well suited to you. You can study it carefully.”

“Yes.” Ji Ning accepted it respectfully. He immediately extended his divine sense to inspect it.

Information on the formation flooded into his mind.

This was a formation far more complex and profound than the ‘Xingtian Formation’. It was created based on the mysteries of the Chaos Alien ‘Luohou’ (Rahu)’s divine body. Once the formation was established, one could transform into Luohou!

This formation was also called the ‘Luohou Formation’.

The formation had three levels.

The first level required commanding six thousand Celestial Immortals and three hundred sixty thousand Loose Immortals. At just this level, it already rivaled the strongest Xingtian Deities and barely stepped into the Daofather level.

The second level required commanding thirty thousand Celestial Immortals and two million one hundred thousand Loose Immortals. At this level, its power and divine body rivaled a True God Daofather.

The third level required commanding ninety thousand Celestial Immortals and eight million Loose Immortals. At this level, its divine body was even stronger than an ordinary True God Daofather. Of course, if Ji Ning commanded it, his attainment in the ‘Dao’ would be inferior to True God Daofathers… but the formation’s power would compensate for Ji Ning’s weakness in the ‘Dao’. He would then be able to engage in life-and-death combat with genuine True God Daofathers without being at a disadvantage.

The prerequisite was being able to command ninety thousand Celestial Immortals and eight million Loose Immortals!

Too difficult.

This was a hundred times harder than commanding the strongest Xingtian Deities! Even among True God Daofathers, very few could accomplish this.

“So many Celestial Immortals and Loose Immortals…” Ji Ning was stunned. “To command them all… can I really do it?”

“Take it slowly,” Bodhi said. “Oh, and you shouldn’t have that many Celestial Immortals and Loose Immortals under your command either.”

Ji Ning nodded.

Fuxi helped you create this formation and also arranged an immortal army for you,” Bodhi said. “You can go to the ‘Great Yu Human World’ and seek out the ‘Youxiong Daofather’. Fuxi has already informed Youxiong Daofather. Go to him, and you can directly receive a legion of ninety thousand Celestial Immortals and eight million Loose Immortals.”

“Ah.” Ji Ning was overjoyed.

Fuxi’s actions were indeed extraordinary. But then again, even Daofather Crimsonbright had nearly a million Celestial Immortals and countless Loose Immortals under his command.

Daofather Crimsonbright was still considered weak. For beings on the level of the Five Emperors of Humanity, their armies were far larger.

As for the ‘Great Yu Human World’… that was the ancient imperial clan’s home base! Great Yu was Xia Yu, the ancestor of the ‘Xia’ clan! His world was also the stronghold of the ancient imperial clan. The ‘Great Yu Human World’ was essentially a super-sized military camp of the ancient imperial clan, its power terrifyingly immense.

The legion Fuxi gifted to Ji Ning was a mere drop in the bucket for the entire ancient human race.

“By the way, weren’t you planning to deal with the Seamless Gate?” Bodhi looked at Ji Ning. “Why haven’t you made a move for so long?”

“After your disciple’s last ambush, the Seamless Gate has become extremely cautious. I’ve walked through the Three Realms and used my Heartforce to investigate, but even if I were to ambush them again, it would be hard to achieve any results,” Ji Ning said.

Of course, Ji Ning longed to act!

He was anxious too.

But he knew that being anxious was useless. The Seamless Gate was a colossus. If he made a single wrong step, the price would be devastating.

“Mm.” Bodhi nodded. “You’re still rational. Take it slow. Making the Seamless Gate bow its head won’t be that easy. Focus your heart on your sword-art, especially that ‘Five Treasures Sword Art’. If you can master the entire Five Treasures Sword Art, you will be able to obtain Fuju’s inheritance. That Fuju was always so mysterious and secretive… no one knows what he left behind. Both we and the Seamless Gate have gone to investigate, but neither of us could obtain it. It seems that one must both master the Five Treasures Sword Art and be a Fiendgod Body Refiner to succeed.”

Ji Ning nodded.

He was also curious about what Daofather Fuju had left behind. After all, Daofather Fuju had died in a very strange manner, and had even arranged everything before his death.

Bodhi left.

Ji Ning first sent the Ninefang Heavenly God back to the Starseizing Major World, and then set off alone for the ancient imperial clan’s home base — the Great Yu Human World.

“Whoosh.”

Riding the Voidboat, he traversed the void and descended into the Great Yu Human World.

Ji Ning could no longer even perform spatial teleportation without the Voidboat now, because training in the ‘Five Treasures Sword Art’ had caused him to completely forget the Grand Dao of Qiankun.

“What grand bearing.” Standing at the bow of the Voidboat, he gazed into the vast world.

With a single glance.

He could see city after city, scattered across the land. Some cities were even floating in the air. These cities all gathered immense quantities of natural Yuan Qi; visible whirlpools of natural Yuan Qi surrounded every city. It was clear that there were simply too many immortals within these cities, causing even normal breathing of natural Yuan Qi to create such storms.

“After the ancient cataclysm, the ancient imperial clan moved here. Now that this calamity is descending, this place has become a giant military camp,” Ji Ning mused.

“So it’s you, Daoist Northmont.” A figure tore through the void and flew over from afar. It was a burly man wearing animal skins, his chest bare. These ancient human experts… from youth, they had grown accustomed to the wild style of dress, and even after becoming gods, they still wore the same.

“Heavenly God Fuqu.” Ji Ning also greeted him. This was the ancient imperial clan’s home base; he couldn’t just barge in recklessly. He had only teleported through the void and then waited patiently.

Because once he entered, the ancient imperial clan would know immediately.

“I have received orders from the Youxiong Daofather. Daoist Northmont, come, follow me to meet him,” said the Heavenly God Fuqu.

Ji Ning nodded.

The Youxiong Daofather

He held a fairly high status among humanity. Although he rarely made a move, he was one of the truly most ancient existences of the ancient human race. Back when Mother Nuwa first created humanity, the Youxiong Daofather was one of the first humans she personally created. Because he lived in a place with a wild bear, he was called ‘Youxiong’. In those days, humanity was too weak, and naming was very casual. At that time, the Youxiong Daofather was still a mortal, and he had built his own small tribe.

From the Youxiong Daofather’s tribe, an extraordinarily remarkable figure once emerged — ‘Yellow Emperor’, one of the Five Emperors of Humanity. The Yellow Emperor was born from the Youxiong Tribe, later rose to prominence, and even unified humanity. The Youxiong Daofather supported the Yellow Emperor, helping him secure his rule over the world.

“Whoosh whoosh whoosh~~~” The wind howled.

In the distance, military flags fluttered in the wind.

Cities were scattered in every direction. Within each city were armies of immortals and Fiendgod armies. Some of these armies had survived from the ancient era, while others had migrated from the various major worlds.

This ‘Great Yu Human World’ not only had many immortals and Fiendgods but also had more than twenty True God Daofathers permanently stationed here. The Youxiong Daofather was one of them.

“This is the Youxiong Daofather’s territory. All these armies are under his command.” The Heavenly God Fuqu smiled. “The Youxiong Daofather is in that largest city over there.”
