The Emperor's Awakening
1,940 words
Within the Void Station.
Seventeen horned, scale-armored warriors watched the scene playing out within the mirror floating in mid-air. It was the image of Ji Ning slaughtering those ten opponents.
“Lord Warden.”
Suddenly, Baluo appeared within the mirror hanging in mid-air. Looking over, Baluo spoke, “Lord Warden, it has been verified. This foreign race’s speed and sword-art are at the Heaven-grade, while his strength is at the Earth-grade. Furthermore, he did not use any astonishing explosive techniques.”
“Good.” The horned warrior in the black cape within the station spoke, “Baluo, your mission is complete.”
“Everyone.” The black-caped, horned warrior swept his gaze across them. “I will directly report the information regarding this foreign race up to the Hall of Elders. Does anyone have any objections?”
“No.”
All of them spoke in unison.
“Good.” The black-caped, horned warrior gave a slight nod.
…
On the Ancient Ruins Continent, within the Broken Horn World.
Inside a colossal structure a hundred thousand zhang in height, there was a row of suspended throne seats arranged in an arc. There were nine thrones in total, and on them were seated nine figures—horned, golden-caped, golden-eyed, scale-armored warriors. Their auras were incomparably powerful. When the nine of them appeared, a massive mirror coalesced in the air before them, and within the mirror, a scene began to appear.
“Most honored esteemed Elders. I, the Warden of Void Station Number 1292 of the Third Void Circle, Qiwa.” The black-caped, horned warrior in the scene spoke with extreme reverence. “We discovered a foreign race entering our Broken Horn World’s Third Void Circle. Not long ago, we have already made preliminary contact with it.”
Whoosh.
Immediately, the scene of Baluo dispatching ten underlings to deal with Ji Ning appeared in the mirror, and even the conversation between Ji Ning and those blood-eyed warriors was fully replayed.
“We have judged him to possess strength close to the Heaven-grade, and he might be hiding certain techniques.” The black-caped, horned warrior was overflowing with reverence.
“Oh, a foreign race?”
“It has been a long time since we’ve seen a foreign race outside of the Seven Gods World and the Twisted Intestine World.”
“Interesting. He has two arms and two legs? And his body is so minuscule?”
“Yellow skin, black eyes…”
The nine Elders watched with great interest.
Their status was exceedingly exalted; ordinary matters would not be reported to them. However, the entry of a ‘foreign race’ was a matter of the highest importance. Even if it was just a single foreign race, it had to be reported to the Hall of Elders, for the arrival of a foreign race… could potentially trigger a world war.
“A foreign race we have never seen before. His flight speed is also ordinary. However, being able to advance through the void tidal surge means his body is quite powerful. Or he possesses a special method to withstand the void storms.” One Elder smiled. “I suggest dispatching the Special Action Squad of the Third Void Circle to capture this foreign race alive, and then dissect and study him thoroughly… A foreign race we have never seen before, yet so small yet able to withstand the void tidal surge—he is worth studying.”
“I suggest… activating the Third Void Circle to its fullest extent. We must ensure the foreign race cannot escape.”
“Activate it to its fullest? The power consumption is too great. This foreign race’s flight speed is only this fast; the warriors we dispatch can easily catch up. There is no need to fully activate the Third Void Circle.”
“But we have never seen this foreign race before; we cannot let him escape.”
“Do you really think the Special Action Squad of the Third Void Circle cannot handle him?”
The Elders began to argue.
Just then…
BOOM~~~
A terrifying, oppressive pressure descended.
The nine Elders simultaneously looked up. They saw a massive, blurry projection appear in mid-air. It was a huge, golden eye. The blurry projection of this golden eye alone was ten thousand zhang in size.
“Your Majesty!” The nine Elders instantly rose to their feet, bowing in reverence.
This ten-thousand-zhang golden eye was staring fixedly at Ji Ning within the mirror. Its gaze held excitement and fury, and a rumbling voice echoed out: “Yes, that’s right! This is a human! A human!!!”
“Human?” The nine Elders were all puzzled.
“Your Majesty, what is a human?”
“He is a human?”
Each of them was perplexed.
“The mighty humans. The terrifying humans.” The golden eye stared at Ji Ning. Its voice continued to reverberate throughout the Hall of Elders. “They are the masters of the Three Realms. They are the enemies who once hunted us down. They are the common enemies of countless worlds, including our Broken Horn World, the Seven Gods World, and the Twisted Intestine World.”
“The masters of the Three Realms?”
“Where is this Three Realms?”
“The common enemies of countless worlds?”
These Elders were all confused.
The golden eye carefully examined Ji Ning, then continued, “It was a war long, long ago. A war that truly tore apart chaos and shattered the void. That war ultimately formed this chaotic, fragmented continent. As well as the rumored, vibrant, stable, and beautiful world of the Three Realms. The Three Realms were seized by another incredibly powerful force! We, the losers, could only survive in this unstable, broken, endless continent.”
“What?”
“Our Endless Continent… we are the losers?”
“How is that possible?”
“Our Broken Horn World is already incomparably powerful, and the beings of this Endless Continent are numerous beyond count. There are even many ‘Saint Lord’ existences. How could we be the losers?”
The nine Elders could not believe it and refused to accept it. They had always believed they were mighty, and the combined forces of the Endless Continent were even stronger. Yet they were inferior to this so-called ‘Three Realms’?
“A Saint Lord-level existence is called a Daofather or True God within the Three Realms!” The golden eye continued, “There are many True Gods and Daofathers within the Three Realms. There are even beings that surpass True Gods and Daofathers… especially the legendary existence called ‘Nuwa’. She was truly terrifying. Even a Saint Lord, before her, was instantly killed.”
“What!” The nine Elders were utterly stunned.
A Saint Lord, instantly killed?
Nuwa?
Who is Nuwa?
The nine Elders deeply engraved the name ‘Nuwa’ into their memories.
“Some of the Daofathers within the Three Realms are incredibly powerful. With a wave of their hand, they could destroy our Broken Horn World. With a single exhalation, flames could shroud the endless void, the very fabric of space burning and collapsing. With a single sword, they could send several Saint Lords fleeing in terror.” The golden eye held a look of recollection as it spoke slowly.
The nine Elders understood very well that their Emperor was the founder of this world, a being who had survived from that incomparably distant war.
What the Emperor said was likely what he had seen with his own eyes.
Too terrifying…
This Three Realms was far too terrifying!
“And among the countless races of the Three Realms, the strongest is the human race. This human race is also the master of the Three Realms.” The golden eye said, “The human race is said to have been created by that Nuwa. They are cherished by Nuwa. Moreover, humans possess terrifying growth potential and reproductive ability. Many powerful beings have been born from their ranks, including many Daofathers. The human race has the greatest strength and the most potential, and is universally acknowledged as the master of the Three Realms.”
“And this little intruder… is a human!”
The golden eye stared fixedly at Ji Ning.
“Human?”
The nine Elders also stared at Ji Ning. Earlier, they had looked down on Ji Ning from a lofty position. They considered themselves wise and powerful, not even taking this tiny being seriously. But now, upon hearing this, this little fellow, whose height was less than one-thousandth of their own, was actually a member of the human race, the masters of the ‘Three Realms’, the common, terrifying enemy of the entire Endless Continent!
“So, this is a human?”
The nine Elders could not help but feel a sense of awe. Because the race behind this foreign race was too terrifying.
“However, there is no need to worry about this little fellow.” The Emperor’s voice continued to ring out. “This is the Endless Continent, not the Three Realms. The so-called Heavenly Daos of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth from the Three Realms are useless here… Only the supreme ‘Chaos Dao’ is still effective. The Chaos Dao is the supreme Dao… Whether it is the Endless Continent or the Three Realms, both were born from chaos. As long as it was born from chaos, the Chaos Dao can be used. But being able to comprehend the Chaos Dao, even just a part of it, signifies one is among the top existences of the Three Realms. This little fellow probably isn’t that strong yet.”
“Mm.” The nine Elders nodded.
The Chaos Dao…
They had heard of it as well. It was truly the supreme Dao, the most powerful Dao. Able to mobilize the boundless power of chaos, it could easily kill a Daofather.
“I command.” The Emperor’s voice grew even deeper and more resounding. “Fully activate the Third Void Circle. Under no circumstances can this human be allowed to escape.”
“The Special Action Squad of the Third Void Circle is to be fully deployed. Capture this human alive.”
“The First Army of the Frontier Army is to be fully deployed. Capture this human alive, without fail.”
“Yes!”
The nine Elders all answered respectfully.
…
“By the Mother Queen’s decree, capture this foreign race alive. We are all to be dispatched!” A horned warrior in a purple cape let out a roar.
“For the Mother Queen!” The densely packed, thousand-strong group of black-caped warriors below all shouted in response.
…
“By the Mother Queen’s decree, our entire First Army is to set out immediately. Capture this foreign race alive!” A horned warrior with a golden cape that had black patterns embroidered on its hem, his aura immense, roared out.
“For the Mother Queen!”
A group of horned warriors in purple capes below also replied with reverence and fanaticism.
Immediately, they began to mobilize their respective units. Soon, the most powerful First Army of the Frontier Army flew out from the Endless Continent, boarding enormous void-ships and sailing into the void, heading in the direction where Ji Ning was located.
…
Within an endless sea of darkness.
Three powerful wills collided. One of them was the will of the Mother Queen who had just issued the orders.
“Sister, why have you awakened us?”
“It is not yet time for us to awaken.” The other two wills each sent their inquiries.
The will representing the Mother Queen then spoke: “A human was discovered within the void territories of our Broken Horn World.”
“Human?”
“What? A human?”
The wills of the other two terrifying existences immediately rippled. They could not forget that terrible war of long ago. The power of the humans was also completely branded into their memories. Even after countless aeons, they still could not forget. It was a true nightmare. That terrifying force had clouds of experts, the humans being the strongest among them. Those enormous formations, the sky-covering flames from the Sunstar, those weapons, be they staffs, trees, or long swords… how many of the beings even they had to treat with respect had been destroyed? To have survived that great war, they felt they were already incredibly fortunate.
