Storming Fuyu — The Assassination of Fomenter Fulong
2,130 words
Within a hall of the Mobile Immortal Mansion.
Ji Ning, Mu Northson, Uncle White, and Qingqing were gathered together.
“That should just about do it,” Uncle White said, surveying the massive map he had drawn on the ground before him. He gave a slight nod.
“How does it look?” Ji Ning, Mu Northson, and Qingqing were all staring intently at the enormous map, but none of them could make heads or tails of it.
“Their defenses are airtight. There are no weak points,” Uncle White said with a sigh.
“No weak points?” Ji Ning was surprised.
“Based on the information you obtained through soul-scrying, the Shaoyin clan has three main lairs,” Uncle White said, nodding. “Each of these three lairs has over a hundred Loose Immortals and Earth Immortals permanently stationed there. Now, the branch we’re targeting, the Dongfu Prefecture of the Shaoyin clan, has those hundred-plus Loose Immortals and Earth Immortals scattered throughout the Chenyu Mountains. They will never all gather together in one place for us to wipe them out in a single stroke. They are dispersed everywhere, maintaining countless formations and restrictive spells. This makes it extremely difficult to destroy the entire Chenyu Mountain range!”
Ji Ning frowned. “There’s no way?”
“But the Chenyu Mountains are vast, and that gives them a weakness,” Uncle White said confidently. “Though it’s barely even worth calling a weakness.”
Qingqing grew impatient. “Uncle White, what is it? I can’t see it at all.”
“The Chenyu Mountain range stretches for nearly a million li. To cover an area of nearly a million li with a single grand formation… such a formation simply cannot be powered and maintained by Loose Immortals or Earth Immortals,” Uncle White said with a smile.
Ji Ning’s eyes lit up.
“You mean…” A look of joy appeared on Ji Ning’s face.
“The range over which Immortals can project their Yuan power is limited. If the formation’s core matrix is too far away, they can’t control it. It’s just like how we can’t control our magic treasures if they are a million li away from us,” Uncle White said. “The formations operated by Loose Immortals and Earth Immortals generally have an absolute maximum range of around a hundred thousand li.”
“The Chenyu Mountains are this vast…”
“A Celestial Immortal certainly isn’t going to stay here forever to maintain the formation. It has to be Loose Immortals and Earth Immortals who are maintaining the restrictive spells over the long term. It’s easy to deduce that the entire Chenyu Mountain range is divided into over a dozen different regions, with at least ten to twenty Loose Immortals and Earth Immortals each in charge of the formations and restrictive spells in their own area.” Uncle White said.
The Chenyu Mountains were nearly a million li long, but only a little over a hundred thousand li wide.
“There are over a hundred Loose Immortals and Earth Immortals in the Chenyu Mountains, but only a small portion of them are in charge of the formations,” Uncle White said. “What we need to do is find out who is in control of the formations. As soon as we kill one, the hundred-thousand-li region that Immortal was protecting will be left without its formation, if only for a short time.”
“But we have to be fast.”
“A Celestial Immortal will show up very quickly. I believe there is an even more powerful formation in the Chenyu Mountains, one controlled by a Celestial Immortal,” Uncle White said. “The areas controlled by Loose Immortals and Earth Immortals are relatively small, but a Celestial Immortal is capable of controlling the entire Chenyu Mountain range!”
Ji Ning, Mu Northson, and Qingqing all nodded.
“According to the intelligence, the Celestial Immortals of the Shaoyin clan generally don’t stay in their lairs. They hide in some unknown location. Once their tribe encounters danger, those Celestial Immortals will definitely arrive immediately,” Uncle White said. “So… I think we should do this…”
Uncle White explained his thoughts in detail.
Ji Ning had already had a vague plan in mind, and now, based on the current reality, he made some modifications.
The plan was set.
“It can’t fail,” Qingqing said, listening with intense excitement.
“Let the Shaoyin clan regret this all they want,” Mu Northson said, his eyes filled with a mad frenzy.
Ji Ning spoke calmly, his voice soft. “Our first target will be the foremost Loose Immortal and Earth Immortal stationed in the Chenyu Mountains. The old monster who has lived for over a million years… Fomenter Fulong.”
As dusk fell.
Ji Ning used his Seventy-Two Transformations to take the form of a short, fat cultivator. The short, fat cultivator drove a cloud directly towards the Chenyu Mountains. He carried a talisman-token on his person, so the formations and restrictive spells of the Chenyu Mountains did not harm him in the slightest.
“It’s a pity. Inside the Chenyu Mountains, I can’t kill those Loose Immortals and Earth Immortals silently,” Ji Ning mused to himself. “Otherwise, I could sneak in one by one and kill them all. Once the Loose Immortals and Earth Immortals are gone, the entire Chenyu Mountain range would probably be defenseless in a short period of time.”
“Brother Xuxiu.” The short, fat cultivator was flying through the clouds when he heard a shout from far away.
The short, fat cultivator looked into the distance. An old man with white hair was flying towards him on an immortal crane. The old man laughed. “Brother Xuxiu, it’s been a long time. This old man has been thinking about you!”
“You’re thinking about my treasures, more like it,” the short, fat cultivator cackled strangely. “Don’t worry, don’t worry. I came back this time because I have urgent business. Next time, I’ll definitely bring some treasures with me.”
“Don’t forget,” the white-haired old man said with a smile. Then, riding his immortal crane, he flew off into the distance.
The short, fat cultivator watched the old man’s back and curled his lip. “Old bastard. Let you live a little longer. I’ll definitely take the chance to kill you later.”
The short, fat cultivator that Ji Ning had transformed into was named ‘Daoist Xuxiu’. He was a man of vile cunning and ruthless methods. Because he was stationed outside for long periods of time, he was able to acquire things like ‘beautiful women’ and ‘infants’ that were strictly forbidden to be sold, but which some cultivators still wanted. This Daoist Xuxiu, for example, often sent beautiful women to his master, ‘Fomenter Fulong’. It was precisely because he was Fomenter Fulong’s disciple that Ji Ning had chosen to transform into him.
“Whoosh.”
Flying all the way, he passed without any obstruction, precisely because Daoist Xuxiu was Fomenter Fulong’s disciple.
Soon, he arrived at the towering palace complex.
“Daoist Xuxiu.”
“Milord.”
Within the palace complex, one could see beautiful women everywhere. Human women, demon women, there were all kinds. There were simple tribal girls, and even noble princesses of royal bloodlines… this place was practically a kingdom of women! Fomenter Fulong’s greatest hobby was ‘lust’. And most importantly, he lived a very long time! He was very influential within the Shaoyin clan, and even their Celestial Immortal ancestors valued him highly.
“Heh heh. Good, good.” Daoist Xuxiu walked along the way, grinning and leering.
“Where is master?”
“The master is in the Spring Sun Hall.”
The women would call out as he passed, but as soon as Daoist Xuxiu walked away, they would reveal looks of disgust on their faces.
They hated this Daoist Xuxiu!
If Fomenter Fulong was a domineering hero, then Daoist Xuxiu was a pure and utter villain! However, Fomenter Fulong was very fond of this disciple.
Spring Sun Hall.
This hall was decorated with the most extreme luxury. Pearls from the depths of the North Sea were inlaid into the dome, purple bamboo from the South Sea served as decorations in the corners, and the endless waters of a glacier world flowed through the hall itself. All sorts of rare and exotic treasures were placed everywhere, giving the feeling that spring had arrived, that all things had revived, that the grass and trees had begun to grow, and that the streams were babbling.
“Master.” Daoist Xuxiu called out from far away.
“Xuxiu?” At the top of the hall, the throne was as wide as a large bed. Fomenter Fulong was lying on the bed, with two maids beside him feeding him fruit. When the mood took him, he would simply take a woman right there on the big bed. He looked at Daoist Xuxiu, who was entering from outside, and laughed. “My good disciple, what business brings you to see your master?”
Fomenter Fulong was very fond of this disciple. He knew full well that Daoist Xuxiu was a villain, but villains were very useful.
“Disciple has an important matter to report to you, Master,” Daoist Xuxiu said.
“An important matter?” Fomenter Fulong laughed. “What important matter?”
Swish!
Suddenly, the arms of Daoist Xuxiu, who was standing at the bottom of the hall, stretched out to dozens of meters in length. A pair of enormous, golden-glowing hands, blotting out the sky and covering the earth, came crashing down directly towards Fomenter Fulong.
“You—!” Fomenter Fulong was greatly shocked. His body instantly flew backwards, and at the same time, a stream of flying needles appeared before him. Hundreds of flying needles transformed into a massive, circular shield to block the attack. As he flew backwards… the Yuan power that erupted from his body directly pulverized the two delicate maids beside him, turning them into meat paste.
BANG!!!
The two giant golden hands, carrying infinite might and moving like lightning, struck. One giant hand directly swatted the circular shield to pieces and smashed the enormous throne into dust. The other golden hand had already caught up to the fleeing Fomenter Fulong in an instant.
“No!” Fomenter Fulong didn’t even have time to use a Grand Teleportation Talisman. A single black light appeared before him, but the golden hand, moving like lightning, crashed down upon it.
BOOM~~~
Everything was shattered. Fomenter Fulong’s body itself was turned into dust in an instant. He was deader than dead.
Fomenter Fulong had been slain!
“Ah!”
“Run!”
“Heavens!”
The other maids in the hall were completely dumbfounded. They were terrified. They had never imagined that the despised Daoist Xuxiu would suddenly strike, and that he would effortlessly slay the legendary, dreaded ‘Fomenter Fulong’.
“Up!” After instantly killing Fomenter Fulong, Ji Ning shot straight up into the air. BOOM! His powerful Fiendgod body was already like a magic treasure itself; it smashed directly through the roof of the Spring Sun Hall and shot up into the sky, hovering at a high altitude.
“Annihilate!”
An immortal sword appeared in Ji Ning’s hand. It was the Thousandbull Sword. “River of the Past, come forth!”
“RUUUUMBLE!” A river stretching ten thousand li instantly covered a vast region. Carrying with it an endless, overwhelming momentum, it swept out with wild abandon. It must be remembered that this Ten-Thousand-Li River, when under Ji Ning’s control, had been capable of binding even the Bashe serpent formed by the Bloodcloud Hall’s assassination attempt. The power of this Ten-Thousand-Li River was such that even a slight brush with it was enough to kill ordinary Loose Immortals and Earth Immortals!
And Ji Ning was pushing it with all his strength.
The most important thing was that this entire vast region was originally under the control of Fomenter Fulong’s formation. No one dared to make trouble on his turf. The surrounding few thousand li all belonged to Fomenter Fulong. Even beyond that, it was where Primal Daoists had their dwellings. Mortals were not qualified to live in such areas.
“Sweep!”
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The Ten-Thousand-Li River was like a water dragon. With a single roll, it caused countless mountains to explode, palaces to shatter, and even the formation bases buried deep within some mountains to be destroyed.
“Drill!”
The Ten-Thousand-Li River burrowed into the earth, causing the very ground to churn and roll. In almost the blink of an eye, this Ten-Thousand-Li River had already ‘turned over’ a region spanning tens of thousands of li. Every mountain was destroyed, and every single patch of land, down to a thousand li deep, was churned up. All of the formation bases were ruined…
“I have to destroy as large an area as possible in the shortest amount of time. The Shaoyin clan’s counterattack will come quickly.” Ji Ning was well aware of this. He immediately controlled the Ten-Thousand-Li River to continue its rampage. The river was simply too vast; it could sweep across ten thousand li in the blink of an eye. It was the perfect tool for a large-scale destruction.
