The Eastflow Twelve Demon Kings

2,163 words

Outside the capital of the former Kingdom of Qi, which was millions of kilometers away, was the imperial palace.

Within a resplendent, golden hall, beautiful maidservants, many of whom were transformed monsters, carried platters of rare delicacies and immortal wines into the hall. Inside the hall, including at the head dais, were twelve low tables.

“Come, drink up!” “Elder Brother, I offer you a toast!” “Ninth Brother, it’s been over a thousand years since we last met. Come, come, let us brothers have a cup!”

Bold laughter, some loud, some low, and some shrill, filled the hall. Every voice was filled with an unbridled, domineering arrogance.

The transformed monsters acting as maidservants were all trembling with fear, moving with extreme caution lest they offend any of these Demon Kings. They all knew that the beings gathered in this hall were the Eastflow Twelve Demon Kings. Any one of them was a being they could not afford to displease, and accidentally offending one would lead to a miserable fate.

Once, a maidservant had nervously spilled some juice from her platter onto the ‘Jade Toad Demon King’ of the Twelve. The Jade Toad Demon King had immediately rolled his eyes, opened his massive mouth, and swallowed the maidservant whole.

In the center of the hall below the dais, several transformed monsters and human beauties were dancing.

Naturally, there were also musicians on the side, beating drums and blowing on instruments.

“Alright, all of you, withdraw.”

After a long while, the Firewing Demon King, who was seated at the head of the hall, spoke.

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

Immediately, the numerous maidservants, dancers, and musicians all retreated. In an instant, only the twelve Demon Kings remained within the hall.

“Third Brother, you asked all us brothers to come. If you have something to say, spit it out.” The one who spoke was an enormously tall and sturdy Demon King, still covered in golden fur with the head of a brown bear. His voice was deep and powerful. He was the eldest of the Twelve, the ‘Golden Fur Bear Demon King.’

“Elder Brother.” The black-robed, thin, and tall Firewing Demon King laughed. “Haha, the reason I invited all you brothers here is to share a great fortune! Seventh Brother arrived the earliest; I told him about it before. If you don’t believe me, you can ask Seventh Brother.”

The other Demon Kings all looked over.

The blue-armored, eagle-eyed Skysoar Demon King nodded. “It is indeed a good fortune.”

“Oh?”

The other Demon Kings all looked at the Firewing Demon King with curiosity. Although they were of like mind, they were all infamous for their ferocity. Usually, if they encountered a benefit, they would keep it for themselves. Why would they suddenly want to share it with their sworn brothers?

Seeing this, the Firewing Demon King smiled. With a flip of his hand, a black beast-skin scroll appeared. The scroll flew out, unrolled, and floated in midair. On the beast-skin scroll was a complex pattern that seemed to be a map.

“This is?” The other Demon Kings were confused.

“It’s a treasure map!” the Firewing Demon King announced.

“Treasure?” “A treasure map?” “Are you joking? What kind of treasure could it be? For us brothers, even the treasures of a Celestial Immortal are nothing special. Only the treasures of True Immortals and True Gods could barely be considered a real treasure.”

For a time, many of the Demon Kings spoke up.

They were the Eastflow Twelve Demon Kings. Even Celestial Immortal Patriarchs were unwilling to oppose them. For them to call something a ‘treasure,’ it had to be truly extraordinary.

The Skysoar Demon King immediately spoke up. “Everyone, Third Brother is not lying. The location marked on this treasure map indeed holds a great treasure.”

“Oh? A great treasure?”

In an instant, many thoughts ran through the minds of the other Demon Kings. Since even Seventh Brother, the Skysoar Demon King, was acknowledging it, this was no simple matter.

“Third Brother, does this have something to do with the Kingdom of Qi?” the short, fat, green-skinned Jade Toad Demon King asked in a low voice.

The Firewing Demon King on the dais nodded. “It does indeed have something to do with the Kingdom of Qi. The reason I attacked and destroyed the Kingdom of Qi was because I heard some information about this treasure. I struck without any warning, capturing a large number of the Qi royal clan’s important members. Through soul-scrying and other techniques, I learned the detailed information about the treasure and also obtained this treasure map from the Qi royal clan.”

“Since you have the treasure map, Third Brother, you could have just gone by yourself.” “I don’t believe Third Brother is this generous.” “Hehe, Third Brother, what are you thinking? Spit it out. We all know your temperament and methods very well.”

Each of them was infamous, and they all knew the temperaments and methods of the other Demon Kings.

The Firewing Demon King chuckled wryly.

The Skysoar Demon King beside him said, “Third Brother has actually been there twice. The first time, he returned empty-handed, completely unable to proceed deeper. The second time, he prepared thoroughly and charged in, but he was trapped inside that treasure ground for over twenty years, nearly losing his life. He only managed to escape recently.”

“What? He was trapped for over twenty years?” “Third Brother, couldn’t you have used a Greater Teleportation Dao-talisman to escape?” “Is it that dangerous?”

One by one, the Demon Kings were greatly shocked.

The Firewing Demon King quickly said, “Listen to me carefully. This treasure ground…”

The Firewing Demon King continued to speak, sharing the experiences he had from his previous attempts. He knew very well that relying on himself alone, he could never get deep inside. Only by joining forces with the Twelve Demon Kings was there any hope.

As the Firewing Demon King narrated, the other Demon Kings grew increasingly shocked and their expressions became grave. This place was indeed terrifying and dangerous… Judging from what the Firewing Demon King described, its mystery and terror were such that even a Celestial Immortal would likely die trying to enter it.

“Only if we twelve Demon Kings join forces do we have any hope,” the Firewing Demon King said solemnly. “I’m itching to know what’s in this treasure ground.” “My heart is burning with curiosity.”

One by one, they were filled with anticipation and desire.

The outermost perimeter of this treasure ground was something the founding emperor of the Kingdom of Qi had managed to enter. He had obtained some cultivation techniques, divine abilities, and secret arts—truly top-tier, supreme techniques. That was the only reason the Kingdom of Qi had expanded so quickly. If the outermost perimeter held such things, what about the deeper parts of the treasure ground?

“We need to plan this carefully.” The eldest, the Golden Fur Bear Demon King, put on a grave expression. “We must not be reckless.” “We need to make a serious plan.” “This is extraordinary.”

Just as the Demon Kings were discussing their plans, a long-necked old man appeared outside the hall.

“Your Majesty! Your Majesty!” the long-necked old man called out loudly.

“Enter,” the Firewing Demon King said with a frown.

The long-necked old man hurried inside and immediately bowed respectfully. “Reporting to Your Majesty! The three Firewing Guard squads we sent earlier, each led by a Loose Immortal, have all been annihilated. Not a single one managed to escape.”

“All annihilated?” The Firewing Demon King suddenly stood up.

“Yes, all of them,” the long-necked old man said, nodding frantically, his eyes filled with anxiety.

The Firewing Demon King’s expression changed drastically.

Hundreds of Firewing Guards! And they were led by three Loose Immortals! For them to all be killed, without a single one escaping… just how powerful was the enemy?

“What’s wrong, Third Brother?” “Third Brother, what happened?” The other Demon Kings asked.

The Firewing Demon King said solemnly, “To be honest with you all, there are still remnants of the Qi royal clan on the run. However, the strongest among these remnants are only at the Wanxiang Adept level. Earlier, a small Firewing Guard squad I sent to hunt them down was completely wiped out. I found this strange, so I dispatched three large squads, but they were also completely wiped out. Not a single one returned.”

“Three large squads? Several hundred Firewing Guards, if they formed a Dao-soldier formation, could even wipe out a top-tier Loose Immortal.” “Killing several hundred Firewing Guards and making sure not one escapes… that is no easy feat.” “This is no ordinary enemy.”

The Demon Kings knew each other well and were also familiar with the strength of the Firewing King’s army.

“Hahaha, why worry? Today, all of us brothers are gathered together, a rare occasion. Let’s all go and take a look and see what tricks these remnants of the Qi royal clan have up their sleeves!” The Golden Fur Bear Demon King laughed heartily. “When we brothers join forces, there are truly no opponents to be found in the entire Star Continent.”

The topmost powers in the Star Continent only possessed a Celestial Immortal Patriarch.

If they joined forces, they truly were not afraid of a Celestial Immortal Patriarch.

“Let’s go together.” “Third Brother, let’s all go together and see who dares to provoke us, the Eastflow Twelve Demon Kings.” “To wipe out the Firewing Guards is to disrespect Third Brother. And to disrespect Third Brother is to disrespect all of us brothers.” “Let’s go take a look together.”

The Firewing Demon King immediately laughed. “Hahaha, excellent! With all you brothers here, whoever is backing the Qi royal clan is dead!”

“There’s no time to lose. After we’ve drunk our fill, we’ll go straight there and cause a bloodbath.” “A bloodbath!”

The Eastflow Twelve Demon Kings acted on their words. Immediately, the Demon Kings led several thousand monstrous soldiers and set off in a mighty procession, leaving the capital of the Kingdom of Qi.

At the peak of a mountain.

Ji Ning was sitting at the edge of a cliff, holding a wine flask and drinking leisurely as he gazed at the boundless sea of clouds.

Through his previous training, he had consumed 1.2 million jin of Primordial Liquid. The Ki Refining aspect of his true body had advanced from the perfection of the Primal stage to the early Void stage! This would allow him to make even better use of Immortal-ranked magic treasures.

“My true body will use the Thousandbull Swords, the Northsea Swords, and other treasures, while my second true self will use the Plowshare Sword Formation.” Ji Ning nodded to himself. With this arrangement, his strength had been maximized to its current limit.

“Firewing Demon King, by killing several hundred of your Firewing Guards… you will surely want to come and see this for yourself.”

Ji Ning waited expectantly.

He was protecting these remnants of the Qi royal clan precisely to lure the Firewing Demon King here!

“Out of the ten greatest sinners, I will first kill the Firewing Demon King, then deal with the rest one by one.” Ji Ning thought to himself. With his current strength, combining his true body and second true self, killing a single Demon King shouldn’t be too difficult.

Just as Ji Ning was sitting at the cliff’s edge, drinking and waiting leisurely…

“Hm?” Ji Ning suddenly looked into the distance.

He saw a vast cloud of mist flying towards him at high speed. On that cloud were countless densely packed figures—a huge number of monsters. Standing at the very front of the countless monsters were twelve figures, each radiating an aura that shook the heavens. The faint trace of it that Ji Ning felt made his expression change.

“Twelve?” Ji Ning stared at the twelve figures at the forefront of the horde of monsters flying on the cloud. His face changed color.

Such powerful auras were definitely not ordinary Loose Immortals. The power of Heaven and Earth they were unconsciously stirring made even Ji Ning’s heart tremble with fear. Moreover, those twelve figures were all standing at the very front of the countless monsters, standing abreast in a single line, clearly on equal footing.

“Are you the Eastflow Twelve Demon Kings?” Ji Ning called out loudly, his voice booming, echoing through the sky.

“Who are you, little brat? Is your master the one protecting the Qi royal clan?” The black-robed, thin, and tall Firewing Demon King among the twelve shouted back, “Tell your master to come out! We twelve brothers want to see who has the gall to exterminate several hundred of my Firewing Guards in one go!”

Ji Ning’s heart sank with helplessness, silently cursing, “I wanted to deal with the Firewing Demon King alone. Why did twelve of them have to show up? Aren’t the Eastflow Twelve Demon Kings supposed to have their own territories? Why are they all gathered together?”
