Divine Sense Unleashed

The white mist within the bottle was an essence refined from Corpsefiend toxins. In a gaseous form, once it touched the body it would rapidly corrode the flesh, dissolving it into a pool of water! Even the senior apprentice-brother himself, a Xiantian grandmaster, could only endure it with the help of an antidote. The youth before him was clearly inferior to him in power, and from what he knew, this young master Ji Ning had only recently broken through to Xiantian.
“No matter how monstrous a genius you are, your Fiendgod Body Refining can’t compare to mine. Even I can’t withstand this. You are dead for sure.” The black-robed man watched with eager anticipation.
Ji Ning’s expression changed. Like master, like disciple! He had already deduced that Zifu Disciple was likely an expert in poison as well, and now this black-robed man before him was equally adept.
The white mist eroded. Ji Ning felt a numbing sensation instantly spread through his entire body.
“Hold on!” Ji Ning channeled his Crimsonbright divine power, the vigorous life force within his Fiendgod body struggling to expel the poison.
“Die!” While suppressing and expelling the Corpsefiend essence with all his might, Ji Ning’s wings of the Windwing Evasion flapped, and he shot forward like a howling gale, pouncing straight at the black-robed man lying on the ground. Regardless of whether he could expel the Corpsefiend essence, he had to kill this man first. Otherwise, if he died from the poison while the other lived, how unwilling would he be!
“Haha, the harder you struggle, the faster you die!” The black-robed man brandished his six-edged longstaff, stomping across the ground with earth-shaking steps as he exerted all his strength. “Go to hell!” He raised the longstaff high, bringing it down like a mountain collapsing upon Ji Ning.
Swish! Swish! Relying on the Windwing Evasion, Ji Ning was like a phantom, transforming into a sweeping arc to attack the black-robed man from the side.
“Kill! Kill! Kill!” Ji Ning charged ferociously. The black-robed man slightly altered the trajectory of his staff to meet Ji Ning’s assault. The two had clashed many times and understood each other’s terrifying power: the black-robed man with his immense strength, and Ji Ning with his profound sword arts and twin-blade mastery.
Bam!
A nearby stone, the size of a human head, shot up abruptly with lightning speed and smashed directly into the black-robed man’s skull. The distance was too close, and the stone came flying from behind—he didn’t have eyes in the back of his head. By the time he vaguely sensed the shift in the air, it was too late!
“Boom!” Propelled by Ji Ning’s divine sense, the stone flew terrifyingly fast, as if a late-stage Xiantian Fiendgod Body Refiner had picked it up and smashed it with all its force.
The stone shattered.
Blood flowed from the black-robed man’s head, and he staggered.
“Clang!” “Shriiik!”
Two streaks of sword-light flashed. One blocked the descending six-edged longstaff; the other pierced straight through the black-robed man’s face, emerging from the back of his skull, carrying with it traces of brain matter and blood.
Boom!
The force contained within the longstaff still sent Ji Ning stumbling back several steps. He naturally withdrew his sword. A gaping hole now remained in the black-robed man’s brow, one that could never be closed. For him, just as for Ji Ning, a thrust through a vital point in the head meant certain death.
“You… you…” The tenacious vitality of a Fiendgod Body Refiner granted the black-robed man a sliver of consciousness. He stared at Ji Ning, struggling to speak. “You…”
Then he collapsed backwards, causing the ground to tremble.
“Huff, huff, huff.” Ji Ning stood there, his breathing slightly ragged, staring at the corpse before him. He knew the man died unwillingly, full of confusion. He was probably puzzled, even in his final moments, as to why a stone had struck him from behind.
Divine sense was Ji Ning’s trump card.
If he used it and failed to kill his enemy, the foe could instantly flee using an evasion Dao talisman, and even that Zifu Disciple would learn of Ji Ning’s divine sense ability. Thus, he could not use it unless he was sure to kill. If he used it, the enemy must die.
Ji Ning had been clashing ferociously with him, but now, with the poison taking effect, he could no longer delay. He had to use his divine sense to manipulate the stone.
The two were already close in strength. In a life-or-death battle, even a single slip was fatal. The stone, carrying boundless force, had smashed into the black-robed man’s head, completely ruining his staff technique. He was in no position to defend against Ji Ning’s unfathomable swordplay, and so he was run through the head.
“Hahaha…” Ji Ning threw his head back and laughed, letting out a wild howl. “Come on! Kill one, I’ll slay one! As many as you send, I’ll slaughter them all! Hahaha…”
In that moment, Ji Ning was utterly frenzied.
Trapped in a hopeless situation, his tribesmen imprisoned, with only the slimmest hope of survival, he had become unhinged. Killing an enemy expert brought him a savage pleasure.
The ground was covered in gullies, craters, and rubble from the clash. Ji Ning’s swordplay had drawn upon the power of heaven and earth, and his foe had been incomparably strong, leaving the surrounding area in ruins.
“The poison?” Ji Ning felt the Corpsefiend essence being gradually expelled by his Crimsonbright divine power and his body’s natural vitality. “It seems it can’t do much to my Fiendgod body after all.”
Ji Ning was different from the black-robed senior apprentice-brother. The black-robed man couldn’t withstand the poison. But Ji Ning cultivated the number one Fiendgod Body Refining technique. His Crimsonbright divine power was born from the fusion of Taiyin power and Sunstar power. His divine body itself was conceived from Sunstar True Fire and Taiyin True Water. In its very essence, it was immeasurably stronger than other Fiendgod physiques.
“This black-robed man was clearly much stronger than the one before. He likely held a high status in this organization and might even know some secrets of the formation.” Ji Ning quickly searched the corpse, but unfortunately… that Zifu Disciple was not a true formation expert himself. He had merely set up the formation by rote. Of course, there was nothing about the maze formation to be found on his disciple.
“Still, he has quite a few talismans and jugs on him.” Ji Ning gathered them all. He had no time to examine the jars now. He dared not pull out the stoppers for fear of poison, and even if he looked, he wouldn’t understand. The best course was to focus on comprehending the formation, improving his own formation mastery, and breaking through as quickly as possible.
Inside the mountain belly.
Six gorgeously dressed men and women were following the senior apprentice-brother’s orders, torturing the captive Xiantian lifeforms.
“Haha, with our senior apprentice-brother handling things, that Ji Ning is as good as dead.”
“From what our senior said from inside the formation, that Ji Ning seems to be just a youth. Little Seven, you’re almost thirty, right? Is he younger than you?” The six chattered amongst themselves.
Not far away, a bald captive, his body covered in wounds, roared: “The Ji Clan’s Ji Ning is only eleven or twelve years old! Compared to him, you’re nothing but an earthworm daring to match a heavenly dragon!”
“Shut up!” The attending servants immediately grabbed a branding iron and pressed it against his skin.
“Six fools! You dare compare yourselves to Ji Ning?”
“You’re not even fit to lick his boots.”
“Haha, nearly thirty years old, daring to compare yourselves to Ji Ning. You’re making my stomach hurt from laughing!”
The nearly hundred Xiantian captives of the Yan Mountains all began to shout and jeer.
“Beat them! Beat them all!” The six men and women roared angrily.
Suddenly—
“Come on! Kill one, I’ll slay one! As many as you send, I’ll slaughter them all! Hahaha…” The frenzied voice was filled with hysteria and wild abandon.
“What?!” The six all changed color.
They all recognized that it wasn’t the senior apprentice-brother’s voice. It could only be the voice of the trapped Ji Ning.
“Could it be that the senior apprentice-brother…?” Panic seized them. The senior apprentice-brother was undeniably the strongest among them. Even without his insidious tricks, he was overwhelmingly powerful.
“Senior apprentice-brother!”
The six shouted into the distance, but there was no answer.
“If you want to see your senior apprentice-brother, go look for him in the Netherworld.” A wanton, arrogant voice drifted from afar.
“Senior apprentice-brother is dead.” The six exchanged glances, horror in their eyes.
“Killed by an eleven or twelve-year-old youth.”
“Only eleven or twelve, and he could kill our senior apprentice-brother? Is there… is there a monster like that? There’s no such freak even in our sect! I’ve only heard that monster-like geniuses exist in the supreme tribes protected by Immortals.” The six were all shaken. They had seen great things, but they had never seen an eleven or twelve-year-old this powerful.
“Kaka-kaka-kaka…” The iron plate at the center of the mountain belly’s floor began to rotate, revealing a pitch-black, deep hole. A faint green light emanated from the hole, and a chilling, sinister aura sent a shiver through the six.
“Gan-er!” The shrill, piercing voice was trembling with rage. “That one called Ji Ning killed Gan-er. He must die! He MUST die!!!”
The six men and women’s hearts trembled. As for the servants, they all cowered in fear. None of them knew what the old ancestor would do in his fury.
“That Ji Ning is only eleven or twelve? Truly a monstrous genius. If he weren’t my enemy, I would have recommended him to the sect. But he killed Gan-er! He must die!” The shrill voice was filled with rage. “Little Seven, come in.”
“Come in?” The handsome youth was startled.
He had never entered the underground chamber beneath the mountain belly. It was forbidden ground.
“Come in, quickly!” The shrill voice was thick with anger.
“Yes.” The handsome youth dared not hesitate. He swallowed hard, walked to the edge of the dark hole, and leaped in.
