Slaying the Winged Serpent

1,694 words

The Winged Serpent opened its massive maw and directly spat out liquid like arrows. Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh! The venom, glimmering with black light, instantly enveloped Ji Ning, but he did not even dodge. With his left hand, he executed the ‘Not a Single Leak’ technique of the Northsea Sword, diverting the venom to the side and letting it fall directly onto the Winged Serpent’s own body.

“Chi, chi, chi…” The scales on the Winged Serpent’s body were immediately corroded, but then the venom seeped into its body and was absorbed.

Ji Ning used his left hand to divert the venom, while his right hand thrust a sword straight at the Winged Serpent’s head!

The sword-light was like a shooting star!

Whoosh!

The strike, infused with the True Meaning of Dripping, startled the great demon Winged Serpent. It frantically tried to turn its serpentine head.

Dripping Water…” Ji Ning’s eyes flashed coldly. “…Pierces Stone!”

The sword-light stabbed directly into the side of the massive serpent’s head, piercing through the scales, then scraping past the edge of the serpent’s skull. Through the wound, one could faintly see the white bone. A large amount of dark green blood splattered out from the gash.

“You actually wounded me?” The ancient Winged Serpent was completely enraged. It raised its head high, and its massive scaly bone-wings quickly swept towards Ji Ning. Its tail also coiled around him, as if it had gone mad, churning the surrounding lake water into a frenzy.

Ji Ning held his twin swords, his movements as fast as a phantom. “I’ll not only wound you, I’ll kill you!”

Although the ancient Winged Serpent was shocked by the sword-art and power Ji Ning had displayed, it still refused to believe that it, a thousand-year-old demon, could be defeated by a human child. Not to mention that Ji Ning had killed its most beloved child, Crimson. In this moment, the ancient Winged Serpent had only one thought—kill Ji Ning!

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh~~~

The lake water churned. The massive scaly bone-wings and the unpredictable serpent-tail madly attacked. Within this lake, the water tribes were in their element; the ancient Winged Serpent was like a dragon that had gained new strength.

Ji Ning, however, countered every move, using his sword-light to block. He left wounds on the serpent’s tail and bone-wings.

“How is this possible?” “How can you possibly defeat me!” “Die! Die! Die! I want you dead!” The ancient Winged Serpent was completely insane.

Ji Ning continued his savage slaughter. With a single glance, a water-lotus leaf and a fire-lotus leaf would spontaneously appear, one above and one below the serpent’s head, sandwiching it between them. As the water and fire lotus leaves began to slowly rotate in opposite directions, the ancient Winged Serpent howled in agony. Its scales began to crack. “Condense!”

A layer of frost quickly formed on its head, and its violent thrashing caused the water and fire lotus leaves to collapse.

The battle beneath the lake raged, darkening heaven and earth. The lesser water demons dared not approach.

Dark green blood flowed from the large wounds on the ancient Winged Serpent’s body, staining the surrounding lake water green.

On the surface of the lake.

Ji Yichuan and Yuchi Snow, both dressed in white furs, stood on the water. The entire lake surface was now shaking violently, as if a massive water monster was stirring in its depths.

“Such a large commotion,” Ji Yichuan said, his eyes lighting up.

Yuchi Snow also nodded. “It seems Ning’er is putting a lot of pressure on that Winged Serpent. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be such a disturbance. Look, the lake water is turning green, and there are many dead fish and shrimp.” She pointed at the floating fish and shrimp in the churning water, all of which had been poisoned.

Ji Yichuan sniffed the air. “It’s the Winged Serpent’s blood. Its blood is highly toxic. Even diluted by lake water, it can kill ordinary fish and shrimp.”

“That much blood,” Yuchi Snow said, a smile spreading across her face. “Ning’er has improved tremendously.”

“Mm. Forcing a Xiantian perfect-level demon to lose this much blood is indeed impressive,” Ji Yichuan said, his tone filled with anticipation.

The ancient Winged Serpent had used every trick it knew, but still couldn’t wound Ji Ning. Instead, its body was covered in huge wounds left by Ji Ning’s sharp Northsea Swords.

“Ever since I broke into Xiantian perfection, among the powers under the Ji Clan’s rule, only a few are stronger than me. And each of them has a fearsome reputation. How did this brat Ji Ning become so powerful? Even Ji Lie probably isn’t his match anymore.” After its initial frenzy, the ancient Winged Serpent began to calm down, and a seed of retreat was planted in its heart.

Ji Ning’s displayed strength was terrifying.

It was an ancient demon, naturally gifted with a powerful body. A late-stage Xiantian Ki Refiner would probably struggle to pierce its scales. But Ji Ning’s sword was incredibly sharp, carving a large gash in its body with each stroke and puncturing a gaping hole with each thrust.

“In a few more years, won’t this Ji Ning be even stronger than his father?” The resentment and hatred in the heart of the ancient Winged Serpent quickly vanished, replaced by terror. “I can’t fight this freak. Better to flee!”

Swoosh!

With a flick of its tail, a turn of its head, and a beat of its scaly bone-wings, the ancient Winged Serpent began to flee.

Winged Serpent, don’t run!” Ji Ning, who was currently on the serpent’s body, immediately used his control over the water to form a channel while simultaneously executing the Windwing Evasion, lurching forward.

“I’ll leave when I want!” The ancient Winged Serpent roared. With a flick of its tail, the lake water surged, sending a wave crashing down on Ji Ning.

Then, the ancient Winged Serpent grinned smugly.

Manipulating water to form an underwater channel? It was a water creature; it could also manipulate water. Crushing that channel was child’s play. If it couldn’t fight, could it not flee?

“Hm?” The ancient Winged Serpent suddenly sensed a terrifying threat from above. It turned its head in shock.

Behind it, Ji Ning was floating in the lake water, surrounded by a dense formation of flying swords hovering in midair. A hazy light emanated from each sword. The Xiantian true ki from over three hundred flying swords had been transformed and condensed into a sword-light, which hovered before Ji Ning, pulsating.

“Magic treasures? So many?” The ancient Winged Serpent was stunned.

Swoosh!

The sword-light flashed. In an instant, it shot through the several-hundred-zhang distance. The ancient Winged Serpent could sense how terrifying that beam of sword-light was and tried to turn its head to dodge. But the sword-light just arced slightly in flight before accurately piercing the center of the serpent’s head.

Bang!

The sword-light shot out from the back of the serpent’s skull, carrying with it dark green blood and some brain matter.

“Ah!” The ancient Winged Serpent stared at Ji Ning in shock. “It was a, a formation…”

“To die under my sword formation is an honor you should be grateful for,” Ji Ning said as he walked over, the water before him parting automatically. The ancient Winged Serpent’s eyes dimmed, and its massive body began to slowly sink.

And so, the ancient demon that had terrorized the Winged Serpent Lake area for a thousand years was killed.

Ji Ning looked at the sinking corpse of the ancient Winged Serpent, feelings of melancholy washing over him. It was this very demon who had attacked the Western Prefecture city, setting off the whole chain of events. When he had first ventured out, he had set the Winged Serpent as his ultimate goal. Although the Serpent’s strength had broken through to Xiantian perfection, he had still slain it!

“Collect.” Ji Ning grabbed the Winged Serpent’s massive corpse. With a thought, he stored it into an empty storage treasure. Although the Winged Serpent’s corpse was huge, it could be stored when curled up. He had thousands of storage treasures, after all.

“Time to head up.” Ji Ning looked up. The lake water parted before him, and he walked up.

Ji Yichuan and Yuchi Snow stood on the lake’s surface, waiting.

“It’s gone quiet?” Yuchi Snow said, looking at the placid lake. “There’s no more noise down there.”

“It seems the Winged Serpent couldn’t do anything to Ji Ning,” Ji Yichuan said. “It’s probably retreated. This battle is over.”

Yuchi Snow looked at her husband. “Couldn’t it be that Ning’er killed the demon?”

“Kill it? In the lake, the demon could choose to fight or flee whenever it wanted. Beating it is easy; killing it? Very, very hard.” Ji Yichuan had personally fought the Winged Serpent, so he shook his head. Then his eyes lit up, and he looked into the distance. “Look, Ji Ning is coming out.”

Yuchi Snow also looked over.

In the distance was the island at the center of the lake. White waves rose on the shore, splitting into two sides to form a waterway. A youth dressed in beast furs was walking onto the island, treading on the waves.

“Ning’er!” Yuchi Snow called out.

Ji Ning had just stepped onto the island’s shore when he heard a familiar voice, “Ning’er!”

“Mother?” Ji Ning was startled. He turned his head.

He saw Ji Yichuan and Yuchi Snow, both dressed in white furs, swiftly walking across the water. Ji Ning was both surprised and delighted.

Ji Yichuan and Yuchi Snow stepped onto the island.

“Ning’er,” Yuchi Snow said as she took her son’s hand, scrutinizing him carefully.

“Don’t worry. Even if Ji Ning gets hurt, his Fiendgod Body Refining power will allow him to recover quickly,” Ji Yichuan said, turning to look at his son with satisfaction in his eyes. “To be able to fight a Xiantian perfection-level Winged Serpent to a standstill and force it to retreat… Ji Ning, you have surpassed my expectations.”

Ji Ning was taken aback. He quickly said, “Father, the Winged Serpent has been killed by me.”
