Wind Rises Overseas: The Execution and the Teleportation Formation
1,797 words
Two days later, near an unnamed small island west of Twin Peaks Island, a streak of azure light flew through the distance at high speed. As it approached the island’s airspace, the light converged, revealing a man and a woman.
It was Han Li and Madam Fan.
Han Li found the woman’s flight speed too slow, so he had simply carried her with his own遁光 all the way here.
“The teleportation formation is on this island?” Han Li stood in mid-air, glanced down at the small island below, then tilted his head slightly and asked calmly.
“Correct. There are eight disciples of the Sublime Sound Sect guarding the formation on the island. However, aside from two who are my own people, the rest are demonic path cultivators brought here by Yun Tianxiao. They are all at the Foundation Establishment stage or above. I cannot command them,” Madam Fan said, her expression somewhat grave.
“Understood. Call your people out. I will handle the rest,” Han Li said, a murderous aura flashing across his face.
“Yes. Please wait a moment, Senior.” Madam Fan agreed without hesitation. She raised her delicate hand, and a talisman appeared between her fingers.
With a flick of her wrist, the talisman transformed into a streak of fire and shot toward the island.
Han Li watched clearly. The talisman circled once over a stretch of hills on the island, then shot straight toward an ordinary-looking mound.
It flashed once, then the fire light vanished, seemingly having entered some kind of restriction.
A moment later, three figures flew out from the mound—two women and one man.
They immediately spotted Han Li and Madam Fan high in the sky, and three beams of light shot over toward them.
“Greetings, Sect Master!” Two of the cultivators—shapely women with alluring features—gave Madam Fan a deep bow upon arrival. They then glanced at Han Li with some curiosity, but when they noticed he was not concealing his Core Formation cultivation, they immediately stiffened with alarm.
The blue-robed old man following behind the two women merely gave Madam Fan a perfunctory clasped fist salute. However, his gaze toward Han Li held a hint of suspicion, and he opened his mouth as if to ask something.
But by then, Han Li had already identified friend from foe. He gave the old man no chance to speak. A flicker of killing intent rose on his face, and without a word, he flicked a finger.
A streak of azure sword light shot out like lightning.
The old man’s face twisted in terror, but the sword light was far too fast. He only managed a single “Ah—” before a thumb-sized bloody hole appeared in his forehead. His corpse plummeted straight down.
The two women were greatly startled by this scene.
But when they saw Madam Fan’s gloomy, unperturbed expression, they seemed to understand something. They exchanged a glance and fell silent.
“Are the rest below?” Madam Fan asked the two women, her voice now carrying a cold edge.
“Yes. All five are at the formation site. This disciple will immediately guide the Sect Master and the Senior.” One of the women, with fair skin, quickly responded, knowing her place.
“Mm. Lead the way for Senior Han. Not one of them can be allowed to escape.” A grim look appeared on Madam Fan’s beautiful face.
Hearing this, the two women confirmed that Madam Fan had brought in help and truly intended to strike against Yun Tianxiao’s people. They no longer hesitated and led Han Li and Madam Fan straight toward the mound.
“Open!” One of the women descended to the air above the mound, raised a red, glowing token, and shouted delicately down at it.
A crimson cloud shot out from the token and struck the mound.
Red ripples spread outward, and a yellow stone door, four to five zhang high, materialized on the mound’s surface out of thin air.
“It’s here. But those five all have mid-Foundation Establishment cultivation. Senior, please be careful,” the fair-skinned woman reminded Han Li with a charming smile and a crisp voice.
“Understood.” Han Li’s expression remained impassive. He raised a hand, and a beam of azure light shot out from his palm.
With a thunderous boom, the stone door was shattered to pieces. Han Li’s expression did not change as he flew straight inside.
Seeing this, the two women exchanged a look of some concern. But Madam Fan was full of confidence in Han Li and, with a gesture to the two women, followed closely behind.
Entering the stone door, they found a blue-stone passage three to four zhang wide. Han Li’s eyes narrowed slightly.
It seemed that, whether or not they had heard the巨响 of the shattered door, two people were hurriedly flying out from the passage, heading straight for them.
Han Li did not even bother to look closely at their faces. He opened his mouth, and two gleaming, translucent green的小剑 shot out, streaking straight toward the two.
The two were startled, and before they could understand what was happening, they could only hastily activate a red silk handkerchief and a small yellow shield at the same time, hoping to hold the line for a moment.
The result was that the azure light shot through with a “whoosh,” piercing both magical tools. Their spiritual energy immediately leaked out, and they fell to the ground. Almost simultaneously, the azure light flashed again, and both men screamed, then slumped to the ground.
Han Li stepped over their corpses and continued forward without pausing for even a moment.
The two small swords automatically flew back, circling around Han Li as he moved.
Madam Fan and the others, following behind, were naturally overjoyed, but they paused briefly to deal with the two bodies.
By the time the three women passed through the passage and arrived at a vast hall, hundreds of zhang wide, Han Li was already standing in the center of the hall, his hands clasped behind his back.
At his feet was a small teleportation formation, and he was looking down at it expressionlessly, as if studying it.
Lying around him were three corpses, each cut into several pieces. A bloody stench filled the air.
Seeing this, Madam Fan’s beautiful face bloomed into a smile. She instructed the other two women to clean up the bodies, then walked over to Han Li, a fragrant breeze accompanying her.
“It seems Senior has truly reached a mysterious level of power. Dealing with Foundation Establishment cultivators like us is truly like killing a chicken with a dragon-slaying knife.” She stood beside Han Li, parted her cherry lips, and complimented him.
“Foundation Establishment cultivators are indeed nothing to me now. Is this the formation you spoke of?” Han Li seemed to have his entire mind focused on the formation. He gave a perfunctory response, then steered the conversation to the object before him.
“Correct! As Senior can likely see, the formation is about 80 to 90 percent complete. It is only waiting for the Dream Stone portion to be finished before it can be used. And as for the Dream Stone, Senior saw it two days ago. Your concubine has not lied to you,” Madam Fan said, her bright eyes flashing.
“Since you are not lying, I will naturally deal with Yun Tianxiao. But does this formation truly lead to Imperial Bright Island in the inner sea? As far as I know, that is simply an ordinary medium-sized island. Why would the demonic path cultivators set the other end of the formation there?” Han Li stared at the formation under his feet, frowning slightly.
“Your concubine has heard Yun Tianxiao speak of this. It is said that Imperial Bright Island originally had an ancient, abandoned teleportation formation. The demonic path cultivators simply modified it slightly for their own use. However, the formation there can only receive transmissions one-way, not send them. The demonic path cultivators do not use it frequently. It is only because this formation is the only one capable of receiving teleportation over such a great distance from the outer sea that Yun Tianxiao chose this location. Senior will not encounter any trouble going there,” Madam Fan explained to Han Li with a serious expression. She now knew how seriously Han Li regarded the teleportation matter, so she naturally did not dare to be careless.
Han Li nodded and said nothing more.
As long as there weren’t any Nascent Soul old monsters guarding the place, he had no fear of even a dragon’s den or a tiger’s lair, given his skills.
Besides, he was willing to take a little risk for this. It was far better than flying all the way back from the outer sea to the inner sea.
Moreover, Han Li was confident that it was simply unnecessary for this woman to deceive him about such a matter.
After examining the formation a few more times, Han Li turned to Madam Fan and said coldly:
“Hurry and tell your formation master to come and finish this formation. After I help you kill that Yun Tianxiao, I want to use the teleportation immediately. Now, let’s go back and wait for that Elder Yun. According to you, he should arrive at Twin Peaks Island in five or six days at most to personally oversee the market affairs.”
Having said this, he walked out with a dark expression.
As each day passed, Han Li’s anxiety grew. He knew very well that the longer he stayed in one place without moving, the more likely that demon cultivator Feng Xi would find his way to him.
What frustrated Han Li was that the Wind Spirit Restriction, which Feng Xi had said would dissipate on its own, had not happened yet. He didn’t know what it meant by ‘it will disappear after a while.’ Just how long was ‘a while’? A year? Several years? Or had it just been a casual lie?
He had tried several times to have the Gold Devourer Beetles shrink and then swallow them into his stomach to slowly gnaw at the Wind Spirit Restriction. But upon trying, he found this method utterly unworkable.
For the Gold Devourer Beetles in his stomach to gnaw at the Wind Spirit Restriction, they would first have to bite through the gold threads of the Evil-Repelling Divine Lightning. But the moment a tiny hole appeared in the outer gold threads, the Wind Spirit Restriction would immediately flare up, frightening him into quickly repairing the gap.
Thus, if eliminating Yun Tianxiao hadn’t been as easy as turning over his hand, he wouldn’t have stayed in this place for so many days.
Even so, Han Li still felt a faint sense of unease in his heart—a lurking, ominous feeling that was welling up inside him.
